Demon Drop Question

In the "classified ad" for Demon Drop it states that it is sold with 8 cars. How long ago did Demon Drop run with 8 cars? Were 2 cars removed following The Edge accident in '84? I'm assuming they were removed so that a car wasn't sitting at the bottom of the tower while one is above it at the top of the tower.

Original operating procedure had it where two cars could be in the elevator at the same time, one at the top about to exit and one at the bottom waiting to be picked up. The Edge (originally located at SF:GAm in IL, now known as Mr. Hyde's Nasty Fall at Geauga Lake) had a failure of the elevator which caused the car at the top to fall and slam into the car at the bottom. I don't know if there are anti-rollbacks or not on the tower.

Either way, noone was killed (I don't think, I know there were injuries though) but the procedure was changed to that there would never be car at the bottom of the shaft. As such, it became impossible to run all 8 cars at once and still be efficient. I don't know that anything similar has happened since though, meaning no car has come screaming back down the shaft rather than rolling out the way it should.

I believe that the riders only suffered internal injuries,and no one died. Either way, falling down that shaft would be a pretty horrific experience. You would think that they would have put anti-rollbacks in the shaft, but I guess not. I think the number of cars that they use now is adaquette for the length of the line.

As far as I know, anti-rollbacks are now installed on all of these rides as a result of the accident.

At the time of the accident, there were not any anti rollbacks in place.
