Demon Drop is not one of the rides open on Friday but it has always been open on friday nights.
Why is this like this ?
(Saturdays and Sundays are normal operating days with all rides scheduled to be in operation. All rides, however, are subject to periodic downtime due to maintenance or weather conditions. There is limited ride availability on Friday evenings.
Rides available (weather permitting) on Fridays: Chaos®, Troika, Blue Streak, Midway Carousel, Raptor®, Cedar Downs, Kiddy Kingdom (6 rides only), Cadillac Cars, Matterhorn, Scrambler, Skyhawk, Wave Swinger. WildCat, maXair, Iron Dragon, Top Thrill Dragster, Wicked Twister, Magnum, Power Tower and Millennium Force®. All other rides and Camp Spooky will be closed on Friday Fright Nights.)

OH NOES.
Should be more like, Oh Well.
I like Demon Drop, but it's not really a big deal if it's not open.
It would be nice to keep it open.
Seeing on how it might be gone in 07.

101 on Magnum and counting...
He wasn't asking if you liked it or not, he was asking why its closed.

If I remember correctly, it wasn't listed in previous years as a "Friday evening Halloweekends ride." But DD was used as a replacement if another was down due to mechanical problems. Seems though that it should be running Friday evenings as it's appropriate to the Halloween theme.

Is corkscrew usualy closed during this time ?

Mr. Droppin' was definitely correct. Demon Drop has been closed on Bonus and Hallo Weekend Fridays as far back as I can remember. I remember it being opened as a replacement for Wicked Twister for a couple Fridays in '04 while WT was down for some sensor issue.
Gilbert, Vegan Rider
They only have 8 coasters open??? The closed ones include:
Mantis
Mean Streak
Gemini
Corkscrew
CCMR
Disaster Transport
Jr. Gemini
Woodstock Express
Now i understand why the bottom 4 are closed, but why Mantis, MS, Gemini, and Corky???
Hail to the Victors
It's both reasons.

Staffing is definately a big part of the problem. Mostly it's still us college kids coming back to run things, and not everyone can get up to Sandusky by 6:00 on Friday evenings.
And then one day you find ten years have got behind you
No one told you when to run, you missed the starting gun
No matter how many rides are open, people would still whine and complain about the ones that aren't open.
Brandon
NO. People whine and complain because stuff's not open? On THIS site? You're crazy.
Goodbye MrScott

Personally, I think it's dead on Friday nights partially because of the limited ride selection. I don't think there's limited availability because it's slow.

You're mostly right.... although wicked twister was down for something much more major than a sensor issure. What happened was that it blew a transformer and alot of stuff got fried. For some reson, they have maitnence, and not the electricians work on that ride. If you ask me, which you didn't... they shouldn't have anyone other than the electricians anywhere near WT.
They don't run Demon Drop in the fall on fridays for a few reasons. Reason number one: Reverse Drives, and lots of them. When its cold out the cars don't make it to the reverse drive, (the kicker wheel at the end of the run out that brings the car back) and then you have to send a host to the car in the runout one to the car in the tower and wait for maitnence to get over.... and they usually take their time because it is a FREQUENT occurance by the end of the year. Also near the end of the year the breaks have worn on all the cars and need replacing. Now, they're not wearing down to the point where they aren't functioning, but what happens is that each car ends up wearing differently, so you'll have one car that stops shorter than the others and another that just flies though the brakes and ends up overshooting the reverse drive and slams into the safety brakes (no car will go off the edge, those safety brakes are wicked) And so while they can adjust the amount of brake, it gets too hard to dial in a level of breaking that works for all six cars. This is why you frequently see cars come off Demon before the season ends. If you can't get one car to work, you take it off. Actually you can run very well with 5, or at least you could before the air gates. You just load the back car and dispatch before the next one gets to the station. Works awesome, but only with a walk on line.
Edit: as far as staffing goes... i've got two scary words for you RIDE PRIDE. They're kids that come up for the weekend usually form a frat and work the easiest positions. And do an okayish job at it. CP pays the frat or wherever they are from a pretty good chunk of change for their efforts. and they get to stay in housing. Now, the park wouldn't function without them, but my goodness some of them make you want to hit them with a led pipe! Like when you are on a no loose articles ride..... and a million lose articles go past the ride pride, I had a kid get up to our platform that was about 2/3 the required hight... *** Edited 8/10/2006 8:27:14 AM UTC by liebevision***
