Does anybody have experiences or memories of Demon Drop's opening year?????? Pics would be sweet too!!!!
I can only remeber the Ad's they ran on tv. They were really cool..very scary and demonic sounding! I would love to hear it again.
if i recall correctly, i was in 4th or 5th grade. my mom bought me a "i survived demon drop" button. it was really cool at the time
I waited in line for the ride, only to chicken out when I got up to the entrance. I had to walk through the car and out the exit. My sister was really mad at me because she wanted to ride, but she wasn't willing to ride without me.
If I remember correctly, the reason that I got scared is that I saw a car stuck at the top for quite awhile. I don't like heights much, so getting stuck at the top of the ride and having crawl out onto that stair case scared the heck out of me. It was two or three years later before I finally rode Demon Drop.
Actually I had one of the first rides on Demon Drop...CP used to have "dress rehearsal" night the evening before Opening Day..basically this was an evening for invited guests to attend for a partice run. All the rides ran this evening except Demon Drop. Well, at the pep rally before the evening...Jack Falfas, now at Knotts, invited all the Park Op Employees to meet at Demon Drop after the evening. We met at the entrance and Jack ask me to lead the employees through the queue. I remeber to this day the wait at the top for the car to drop...It was incredible then and is still memorable now.
Now THAT is a cool story...

How is that thing running these days? Is it rough/headbanger? I've never been on one of these intamin 1st gens and it's the only ride at the point I've never ridden.

It's a great ride, and in no way a headbanger. It's not as exciting or open as PT, but it is a fun ride.
