Day trip to Geauga Lake?

Hi everyone, this may be my first post on here, I can't remember. I've pretty much been a lurker since late May 2007 but I gotta come out into the spotlight at some point. Anyway, I am going to Cedar Point this Thursday through Saturday, Aug. 23-25, and was thinking about making a day trip to Geauga Lake during the day on Friday.

Does anyone think that this is a good idea or should I just stay at Cedar Point for the whole trip? I will be back to CP in two weeks for the Joe Cool weekend festivities so I wouldn't mind not being in the park for a while, especially if it's hot or rainy that day. I already have a Cedar Point season pass so I don't think it'd cost that much more to get upgraded to the Maxx Pass and I've heard a few good things about Geauga Lake, namely the short wait times. Any ideas on this would be appreciated. Thanks.

If you wanna spend your day waiting in long lines, go to CP.

But if you want to enjoy a great park that you actually get to ride everything and have fun, go to GL.

My family and I actually prefer GL over CP. But everyone's different. I would definitely go and check it out if you've never been to GL. Another thing to consider is that you will be back at CP in 2 weeks, so why not go to GL when you have the chance? How much CP can a person take?

I guess you can go to Geauga Lake, but I really wouldn't make a full day trip out of it. The park gets quite boring after a few hours.

Its worth going to Geauga Lake just to ride the front of Dominator over and over. I recommend getting there when the gates open and staying until you've had enough. The 1st and only time I've been there I got done with the whole park before noon and headed to Cedar Point for the rest of the day and this was on a weekend!

You don't say?

I'd say it's worth the drive - but don't plan on being there more than 3-4 hours even *if* you do the waterpark. It's not that it's boring, but once you ride everything once, you really don't feel like trekking all over the place to do it again.

Yep! And don't you forget it, either. <smile>
