I know I had started a thread like this a few weeks ago but since I drove to CP yesterday to get my season and parking pass it is time for an updated version
(Ohio saying "you cant get there from here here here here or here" our state symbol? An orange barrel)
71N from 670 (and before) to 37 is down to one lane-55 mph-mess-avoid it at all costs-take 37W to 23 if you can. I am not sure about 270 to 23-is there any construction there? 23 wasnt bad-there were barrels but nothing going on. Rte 98 to 4 had occasional down to one lane messes-nothing drastic. Then Rte 2 to 250 a MESS again-the exit to 250 CLOSED so you are detoured way to next exit (Huron exit) and forced to come back the 6 miles out of your way down the Cedar Point Causeway. I recommend staying on Rte 4 straight to the Point. All in all total drive time one way was 2.5 hours again-Ive discovered a nice little addition to my truck called cruise control-what an awesome little toy!
And I would like to mention a thing called MF-
OMG!!!!!! Ready to RIDE!
Just seeing the park has me sooo siked-I can not believe I will be riding again in 3 days!!!
Happy Traveling to all!
BE CAREFUL OUT THERE!!

Welcome back Raptor riders-how was your flight??
I had the same problem last Friday when my daughter and I got our season passes processed.
It is probably better to take Rt. 4 straight up and cut over either on 1st or 5th don't you think?
That's what I'm going to do next weekend. I live near Polaris Pkwy. and I-71. I always take Polaris over to Rt. 23 and up. I think it saves time over I-71 to Rt. 36/37. LuvRaptor, you have made more trips than I have, just a sugestion.

I would suggest avoiding I71 at all costs. US 23 north of 270 is OK, but can get busy at times. Once clear of Delaware, it's good to go all the way to Marion.
I suggest taking US 23 to SR 4, rather than using 98. You can cruise 65 (72) mph all the way to SR 4, and the run up 4 to Bucyrus isn't bad, and usually isn't busy. SR 4 to Sandusky is just SR 4 to Sandusky, and there's no way around it.
Avoid SR 2 in Sandusky if at all possible! I would suggest taking SR 4 to Bogart Road, which is the traffic light just before SR 2, then east on Bogart to Columbus Avenue, the next traffic light, then north on Columbus Avenue.
On Columbus, head into town. Go to Scott Street.
Scott street is a cockeyed intersection with a pizza place on your right.
Take a right and head east on Scott street. This will change into 5th street. Continuing east on 5th, you will reach the light at Causeway Drive and 5th. Using the light, turn left to go to Cedar Point, or go straight to get onto River Ave to go to the nasty McDonalds.
Once again, I would suggest avoiding SR 2, and US 250. Don't bother with US 6 either. Those are strictly tourist routes for the suckers. Do what us locals do, and take Scott Street.
We now return you to our regularly scheduled topic!

"Remember to pillage before you burn"
Through Columbus, IR-71 is still 65 MPH from IR-670 North to OH-161, where the construction starts. That goes North to OH-37 I think, but I don't take it that far North. I've found that IR-71 is still passable up to IR-270 or to Polaris Parkway, and I think that construction is being done mostly with night work; since IR-270 is under construction, I suggest taking IR-71 to Polaris, then taking Polaris West to US-23. There is a bridge-painting project in progress in Columbus, 5th Ave. over IR-71, but that is almost done and is scheduled to finish next Monday (5/8/2000). Northbound there is no delay except that the ramp from IR-670 to IR-71N is closed, but Southbound one lane is closed on IR-71.
There is no construction going on US-23 in either of the zones they were working on last year. Taking US-23 to OH-4 instead of getting off at OH-98 adds one mile to your trip, and that mile is probably made up for by the higher speed limit on US-23.
At the moment, OH-98, OH-4, and Sandusky streets are clear all the way through. I generally take OH-4 all the way into Sandusky, go around the right-hand side of the park, then cut across on Monroe St/First St. to the Causeway.

I think Ill just dig a tunnel under ground and travel that way, seems like it might be faster! LOL

Welcome back Millennium Force riders...We all want to know how was your RIDE!!!!! Birthday MAY 5TH, SFO MAY 5TH 1 DAY...
Yeah, Monroe to 1st to the Causeway was what I was talking about.
And I thought I had a tough trip coming from the north side of Chicago! I can always count on two things on my way to the Point....traffic in Chicago and worse traffic on the Ohio Turnpike.
Thank you Governor V.
