Curious Aussie

G'day I live in Perth Western Australia (highest coaster is 40 feet) and as such never had the chance to visit to CP seen as though I cant get there by bus. I have become very curious about this new mystery attraction and hope to one day ride it. But being new to this soughta stuff i was hoping you could explain to me the meaning of "airtime" also I was wondering what is the average time you queue for these soughts of rides like MF as they seem very popular.
Airtime is the sensation of floating out of your seat. This is produced by negative G's. The wait for MF and other popular rides can vary throught the season. It all depends if it is a busy day in the park. It can span anywhere from 45 minutes to 2 1/2 hours on average. The wait can be even more than that on really busy summer days.

Bloody hell thats a long time to wait for one ride
Airtime is the experience you get when on a coaster ride you come out of your seat by the force of the ride or when you become weightless and float up from the seat.

On a weekday, earlier in the week, sometimes it can be as little as 15-20 minutes on up to 45. Closer toward the weekend during a warm summer day waits can be from 2-3 hours. You can always do the freeway stamp though if you can manage to get a stamp early enough in the day and when your time to ride comes you can have usually expect about a 10 minute wait on any given day. If you are a Joe Cool Club season passholder you can ride MF before the park even opens and waits are like 5-10 minutes. :)

Airtime is when you go over a hill and the tendency of motion keeps your body going up away from the track while the train follows the track. In other words, your ass is up out of the seat.

I actually noticed in some of the photos I shot of MF crossing back over the lagoon that people are just slightly out of their seats, and women's breasts seem to defy gravity (not being a pervert here... that's just what it looks like).

Queue times vary, but at Cedar Point, they're not usually bad for two reasons: 1) The crews are best in the world. They move people in and out quickly, which is why the park gets the best capacity award every year. 2) There are just so many damn rides. We actually added up the combined hourly capacity of all the coasters alone and decided that everyone in the park could ride a coaster in two hours of a busy day if they were all tall enough. Consider that they're not all tall enough, many are riding other things, watching shows, etc., and you can see that waits never get that bad.

Millennium Force usually has the longest wait in the park, but as long as all trains are running the wait is generally under two hours on all but the busiest days. Raptor, Mantis and Wicked Twister get to an hour some times, but everything else is usually pretty good, half hour or less.

Jeff, I can tell you for certain that riding airtime monsters (such as Shivering Timbers) makes it very difficult for some women (such as me). I seem to pop out of my bra during every ride on ST.

On the other hand, OSTR's aren't all that fun either.

Still, it won't stop me from riding coasters!

Is it getting warm in here or is it just me?
Hee Hee. I know what you are saying OldCPer. Whenever we are going on coaster marathons, my wife makes sure she puts on the "good" bra. Some type of sports-like bra I guess. There have been some incidents with bruising in the past.

Ya know, I was kinda getting bored with all the redundant conversation here and on Coasterbuzz until this last idea came up.

Would it make sense to explore / discuss this a little more? It never occurred to me women would have such problems... :)

when i was there last yr in the last week of july the wait for mf never exceeded 1.5 hours, mantis/raptor were usually 45mins and most everything else was 30mins or less.

What would you say if I told you I met my Homecoming date at Cedar Point?

I hear ya OldCPer. KickstheSky and I were discussing the same thing at Kennywood a couple week ago. Some coasters can be a real ***** on the tatas. I find that crossing my arms over my chest is a necessity on some coasters. Mean Streak, grrrrrr.

Ummmmmm, thanks for the reference to the thread, but I would be MUCH more interested in discussing the filthy bits of women than men!

And wow, this thread sure got WAAAAAY off topic.....yay!

Oh yeah...MS is another one. Not so much because of the airtime, but the shaking. Maggie's bunny hops can get exciting as well. I wonder how many pictures of endowed women in tank tops get blacked out considering where the on-ride photo is situated on Maggie.

And hey! I don't consider these "filthy bits", dear. They are a natural part of a women's anatomy and I keep mine very clean, thank you.

On another note, I love the way Australians talk...a few years ago we had an exchange student from Australia, and he had the coolest accent.

I think this is more than the aussie barganed for.
Probably. But hopefully Sticks will someday get to come to our favorite park and we'll show him that we aren't really such strange people afterall.

I am was wondering if when other major attractions were built recently like MF and WT did CP keep a blanket over them as well or did they just annouce what they were going to be before they built them.
They would need some big blankets for this one
I love that Cedar Point Syndrome... :)

Sticks, I know this has already been stated, but the lines move very quickly at CP. They have the fastest moving lines, and if they did not move as fast MF would have a consistent 4-5 hour wait, and the rest would be 2 hours plus...

What do I mean by Cedar Point Syndrome? Again, it has been stated that the number of rides spreads people out, putting less people in one line. I can remember when there were only 6 coasters at CP, and the "best" was Gemini. Lines were 1 hour minimum, but closer to 2 for a few rides on very busy days. No other park has that sort of syndrome... That's why CP got the Golden Ticket for fastest moving lines...

Way to go CP!!! :0
