Crane Specs

If anyone wants a guess at the sheer magnitude of the height of this thing, here's a link to the specs on the crane they're bringing in to build this thing. It's been sitting in soak city lot all weekend so I dug up some info on it. With the Jib extension the crane can hit 500 feet, I'm not saying the ride is going to be that high, but that's a big a** crane!

I see all the pieces falling into place... I just hope they fit as we would all expect them to...

just curious on how you know that crane in the link is the same crane in the parking lot?

Are you talking about the crane that was in pieces, because it does look very similar to the illustration.

Just think they will need another crane to put that crane together.

Well seeing as how the crane in the parking lot has a large Manitowoc Logo on it and has the model number 2250 painted on the side It's not hard to put 2 and 2 together. Manitowoc only builds 7 models of cranes like this, and out of all the pics I've seen on their website the 2250 matches all the parts in the lot.

Here's the link to Manitowoc's homepage with a pic of the crane, it's an exact match as to what is in the lot.

Thats interesting. I was there friday night and around midnight a couple trucks were bringing in the flatbes with parts of this crane on it. Pretty cool. So we can get a good idea now that since we are obviously getting more crane in that they arent going to stop building up anytime soon!

Actually, the specs page for that crane specifically says "Fast self-assembly, in a few hours, without an assist crane". (Emphasis mine)

So no, they actually DON'T need another crane to put that one together. :)

The old crane has just gone down....new crane will probably be going up today.

I doubt they will have it up today, or the rest of the weekend because of HW's. They might assemble everything necessary on the ground so they can start back up on Monday, but we will probably be crane-less for a few days.

this may or may not be the 500ft crane, this picture shows that at 500ft the crane would not be able to lift at its maximum capabilitties. Only Heavy lifting can occur at the max height of 300ft. I dont know what would constitute as heavy lifting, or how much the track and brace sections wheigh. Just wanted to let everyone know.

i think the most to be lifted would be abour 20 tons....the Big supports for the main tower only weigh 8 tons. I saw in a picture on setecx.com, one of the main tower supports was labeled 8 ton on the bottom....the track might be a little more depending on the size of the piece.

the track sections for MF weighed between 11,000 and 17,000 pounds. i doubt these track sections weigh much more or less since Intamin uses the same track style on all their rides

I have little doubt that the crane in there now is "the" crane. Having been close to the crane used for MF stretched along the road, this one is at least as large, maybe even bigger.

go to the model 2250, it looks really familiar and has a max boom of 520ft.

What's all that suppost to mean, crash?
The "boom" is the length of the arm of the crane. Check out good old Webster's.
