CP's fries or Kennywood's fries?

what's your opinion on the subject of Kennywood's "potato patch" versus the fries at CP's "hot potato'?

Personally, nothing beats Kennywood's potato patch fries. I don't know what's different about them, but I do know that I like Kennywood's better.

Hmmm. It's been a while since I've been to Kennywood. Perhaps I'll need to pay a visit to refresh my memory ;).

I personally haven't ever gone to hot potato, but happy friar has wonderful fries, probably the best i've had in awhile. Mr. Potato fries are also yummy with some cheese and ketchup. CP fries are the best on this planet that i've found.

This is really tough call. While both places have incredable fries I would have to give this one to Kennywood. There is just something about their fries...*starts to think of conspiracy*.

Kennywood. No contest. It's not even worth comparing. Besides, Kennywood lets you load on the junk toppings... FREE, and they're less expensive. Cedar Point could learn a thing or seven from Kennywood on making and serving fries.

I gotta push for CP's fries, but I hate the Garlic Fries!

I think that those of you expecting something huge and cool will be disappointed. There isn't a single logical reason to pour a footer and enclose it in an ugly wall for six months.

Pretty close call, but I'll give my vote to CP. Kennywood's fries were a little on the soggy side last time I had some. I agree with Sparty on the Garlic Fries, good idea on paper but terrible when actually done. They would be better if they had some garlic flavor without pouring that garlic oil all over them. The fries turn out as limp as shoe strings that way.

Kennywood definitely. KW's are still cut fresh at The Patch, and fried almost immediately I haven't seen CP cut their's fresh for years. Heck, even PKI still cuts and cooks 'em on site.

I'd have to say in terms of the actual fries, they are very close with CP maybe even edgin Kennywood out. But the topping bar puts Kennywood's over the top in my opinion. Either way, they're both godly.

Scott brings up a good point. Are CP's fries still fresh cut, or do they use frozen now? I haven't seen the fry cutter in years also, but I don't see them pouring any fries into the basket from a bag either. They usually have a bunch of baskets filled with raw fries waiting to be fried. Anyone from foods know for sure what they are?

At Kennywood you can see the skids of taters. At CP, all I ever see is frozen stuff coming from bags.

Again... point, Kennywood.

Have to go with the homepark on this one...Kennywood. Nothing beats Potato Patch fries with cheese or whatever other "junk" you may want on them.

I actually liked the garlic fries. Although I've never had Kennywood fries, no trip to CP was complete last summer without getting some unbelieveably unhealthy, but oh so tasty CP chilli cheese fries.

My brother worked at the Happy Friar in '01 and he said that they cut the fries there.

Actualy Jeff, they are cut daily at the happy frier/ mr potato/hot potato. The next time you buy fries there look to the back near the deep friers and you will see the racks of fries ready to be cooked.

There are also places in the park where they do have frozen french(freedom)fries.

I could kick myself for not trying the fries at kennywood last time I was there.

Yes, you can definatly tell that CP's are fresh cut, at the Happy Friar and whatever the other places are called, I guess there's 3 locations. The other food locations in the park use frozen fries and those are horrible. But, I'd pick Kennywood's over CP's. They're probably more reasonably priced at KW too arent they? I don't really remember the prices.
I love the fries at Cedar Point, i haven't been to Kennywood, but i know i like CP's fries, they are really good, i love getting them and pouring ketchup over them, hey do you think they will be open for bussiness on April 26th while i get my season pass processed? ;) jk

"but but, all i want are some fries and a heartattack on a stick!" me on the 26th lol

Besides the great rides and being the best of everything, the best part about Cedar Point is that it isn't Six Flags! YAY!
