CP's First Truly Fully "Themed" Ride?

Aside from Disaster Transport, which is a true disaster, I think Dragster is the first truly fully themed ride that the Point has. Everything from the grand stand, starting line, the cage fence surrounding the area coming back to the station is themed with the race theme. What do you all think?
MFJ - I agree, 100%. I was just doing some reminiscing over on the thread dealing with having timing lights.

I hadn't been to the point to see the cruise or the quake,I loved Pirate Ride. I actually should have clarified my post,I meant the first truly themed ride present in the park right now,not in history.

My dad was talking to someone like a week ago and finally told me this. He said that he was talking to someone that works at Norwalk Raceway and he said that Cedar Point called and asked if they had some sort of spare dragster or anything like that. I dont know specifics but they asked for something in that nature. Now it makes so much more sense too.
I would have prefered a Nascar theme myself, ( if you aint rub'n.... you aint race'n ) But I'm not complaining at all. The Dragster trains are coolest trains I've ever seen. Plus the launch makes the drag race theme a no brainer. Very cool indeed

MFJ - That isn't what I meant. IMO - your thread is about theming and that other one was about one aspect of the theming.

This isnt CP's first themed coaster, What about DT??

NYC Subways, The next best thing to riding roller coasters.

What about the train? Does the bone town count as theming?

AHHH!!!!

Dragster is the only FULLY themed ride WITH A THEME. The bone town is 'decoration'. If the train ride was just that, then it would be a themed ride, but it's just decor.

Anyway...

As for Dragster, this themeing is amazing. Sure, it's not Disney, but they've thought of things I'd never in a million years think of. The tower as Christmas Tree Lights? COOL! Real Dragsters! SWEET! Holding area themed as a pit? AWSOME!

What about it? It is very well named, it is a total DISASTER. The best thing CP could do with it would be to tear down the building and bring back the bobsled theme.Yes,they have a few things hanging from the ceiling but you don't really get anything from it all. At least this way you could see the park as you ride. Riding in the dark on that ride is useless. The only thing it is good for is air conditioning in the summer!

By the way-did CP enclose the ride for any certain reason or just because they thought the theming would work? It really is an eyesore on the front of the point. The bright blue bobsled tube looked so much better up front there. That ugly brown building looks like an abandoned factory.

MFjedi, I know this is your opinion but CP really needs some FAMILY oriented coasters too. Not all coasters need to be strictly for thrillseekers. Whats next? Do you want to take out Iron Dragon, Mine Ride, and Jr. Gemini too? I can understand if you don't think it's the most exciting ride in the world but I don't forsee CP tearing it down anytime soon. It's a good kiddy/family coaster and also a great place to go during the hot summer months.

It's not my favorite ride either but it is much better than it was when it was Avalanche Run. Talk about a disappointing ride. I do agree, however, that CF could put a little more money into the theming of the coaster. While it would be expensive, I think a laser show w/fog while riding would be awesome.

Good call, Rob! How can we ever forget the pirate boat, what a great ride!

The theming was probably the biggest surprise for me this morning. I think the station area is going to look great, and the trains are amazing! I heard Janice Witherow talking about the theming on the radio this morning. She said is was something CP usually doesn't do, but they were giving it a try for TTD.

Yes,this is truly something CP should be proud of. That loading station design is going to be awesome. It looks like in the drawings they will have a good bit of landscaping, trees, etc around it. I think when everything grows in it is going to look very nice. I am also glad to see CP get in on the theming bandwagon. You see such a big whoop made about all of the rides at Disney,CA parks about the great effects, props, etc ,hopefully the point will get in on some of this notariety now,not that a 400 footer won't get them some anyway :)
i dont know if its theming is going to be all that great, but judging from what CF did with Xcelerator, we should be in for a really nice lookin new midway.

Isn't Cedar Creek Mine Ride themed?

The fact that CP contacted Norwalk Raceway for information doesn't surprise me in the least. Another way that CP works with the community. Norwalk is our favorite track.

Hell, I'm from Columbus and Norwalk is my favorite track. I've never even raced there, only watched. I usually race at Nat'l Trails 'cause it's closer... :)

I think the themeing will look great, though. They should give you timeslips when you get off. If there's an onride photo, put a timeslip in with the picture showing the stats of the ride...
