CP Zippo Lighters

I won one a couple of years ago. Just popped one quarter in and won it with the arm that pushes it off the side. No design on it, though.

I want one. I don't care which one. I just want one. Its the perfect legal combination of my pryocity and coaster fanatic. I wish they sold them and sold them less the 30 bucks.

Lighters for sale on CP's website.

Anyone have a problem with them giving away Zippo lighters and Coaster shot glasses to folks under 18 or 21? I have always found these to be an odd item to win at a game or buy in a gift shop.

Very true...

Do they still sell the "emergency" cigarettes at any of the shops?

I believe it is legal to buy lighters at any age. I've bought them a few time for my fireworks.. i uh mean my mom. Shot glasses maybe seeing what they are normally used for but they could just be decoration or used with kool-aid or whatever else you could find to put in them.

Yah, items associated with drinking or smoking are different than actually drinking or smoking. Last I heard, cigarettes are still sold at the Marina Store.

Now Mr. Scott, you're trying to tell me you've never done a Pepsi shot before?

Ralph - I did check that the other night. I noticed they didn't have much of a selection. They don't have any I need. I remember they used to have WT, MF, and TTD on the site last year or the year before. My thinking is they are just getting rid of what they have left. I know yrs ago when they first showed up and then they dissappeared for a yr or two before coming back. Hopefully see more next year. :)

Fastball84,

I've done many shots in my life and I can assure you that not a one included Pepsi.

If shot glasses and lighters are appropiate prizes at the Point, what about roach clips, rolling papers and the such? Zig-Zags with a picture of Maggie on the cover?

We'd never be that lucky...

MARKETING IDEAS!!!

Roach clips with Raptor logos (they both help you "fly high")

Papers with Corkscrew (it's a whole "rolling" thing)

Syringe with TTD (they both provide a good "shot")

And, for you DT haters (Disaster Transport, not delirium tremens, you junkies...), a plastic straw with DT (both are often associated with "blow")

And the tickets could be made of acid, because you're in for a heck of a trip!

In all seriousness, it would be kind of cool to be able to buy a quality, old school German style stein from Hofbrau. Making that the only place to get it would eliminate the "problem" of kids getting their hands on questionable material.

lmao!! very nice scooter.

Oh and Mr Scott....theres a difference between shot glasses and lighters and drug parafeniaia.

I have never laughed so much from something on PointBuzz before.

We'll miss you MrScott and Pete

Fluffy,

Shot glasses are intended to deliver a drug into one's system. So are roach clips, rolling papers, and the such.

The only difference I see is the drug delivered by a shot glass is legal--for adults over 21 years of age, that is.

I really don't have an issue with CP having the glasses and lighters available. I'm just trying to generate discussion on the subject.

MrScott (who pumped 5 bucks worth of quarters in a machine this morning, trying to win a Zippo.)

Another note: When I was a kid, an Arcade was a place you went to play pinball, Space Invaders, billiards, etc. for fun. The Arcades today are nothing more than "Kiddie Casinos", dispensing tickets which may be exchanged for merchandise. Even some of the games mimic actual casino games. Thoughts on that?

Mayor, Lighthouse Point

There's one reason that no one plays the video games anymore at arcades, why pay when you can go home, pop in your PS2 and play games 50 times as good? I love Dave and Busters and the kiddie casinos. You're right, there modeled after casinos, except with much worse odds of winning. ;)

I never honestly thought of it like that. Except our "chips" win us useless prizes like stuffed animals and whoopie cushins. Few games actually give you money back. Although I don't recall ever seeing one in an arcade, I do know there is a quater drop at the parish festival down the street from my house in which you get your quarter or more back.

Like Fastball said, most kids don't play the "classics" in an arcade anymore becuase they have it in Ultra-3D Mega Super Cool version at home on the PS2, XBox, etc, etc. To most there is no point in spending money in an arcade if there is no payback. Those are the machines the people put in there basements or game rooms because they can and they hold the nostilga factor.
