Have A Great Day Here At Cedar Point America's Rockin Roller Coast!!!

Two words... good luck...

I'm in the middle of two tapes from last year. The Country Hits Live tape and a general one. I'm importing everything onto the PC for editing purposes and will export it back to VHS or VCD when I'm done.

If you've never done it before.. good luck.. it's VERY time consuming and can be very frustrating if you've never done it before..

Most consumer software sucks for editing, Premier included. Your best bet these days is to use a miniDV camera and get a FireWire (IEEE 1384) interface for your computer.

If you're really serious about editing, Avid DV Xpress is only $1,500. Yes, I'm serious. Yes, I have it. Understand though that I had been editing video for about eight years before I turned programmer. There was even a time when (gasp!) we used analog tape!

Oh, and before I forget... keep in mind that you don't have the copyright to use whatever music you want.

I actually have made a couple of movies, and I do all the editing.  I can add in sound; music, voices, etc.  Its all done with an editing machine that range in very high prices. I do all my work at my school.  I also can add in titles, and sound effects. But like i said, its all done with an editing machine. I actually had made a Millennium Force video for my first project with it.  It was actually quite horrible compared to what i do now, but it was still fun. But anyways, if you can't get your hands on an actual editing machine, or even a good computer with capturing devices would work, but if you can't . . .then good luck.

Yeah, the machine that i use at school is like a $4,000 machine, but if you get it, then get it. Its worth it if thats what you like to do. And like Jeff said about the copyright, that is very true.

Some video cameras, have sound and video input jacks.  Put a tape in a vcr, hook the vcr to the video camera.  Hook up the radio or whatever it may be.  and your on the roll.  I've done this several times....  not to shabby actually.

There's two machines here at my school that can help you edit video. I don't know about quality and reliability though, when you step into the control room you feel as if you've gone back to the Cold War.

And with the copyright... it's allright if you make the video with copyrighted music, as long as it is not distributed. (ala napster)

That's not correct. Copyright is copyright, regardless of intended use. You need to get that through your head and understand the law.
