Is anyone else sick of hearing "Ugh, CP did a bad job with theming this ride" or "CP theming sucks"? We all know how CP is with theming, so why do you guys continuously get surprised when a new ride at CP's theming isn't how you expected? I love Cedar Point the way it is and I could care less about theming. Cedar Point is not Disney and I sure do hope it never becomes Disney. So let's not all expect this new childrens area to be greatly themed, because I am sure there will be complaints on here that the theming is not so great. It's definetly time to start knowing what to expect with theming at CP or any other Cedar Fair parks.
Even if Planet Snoopy was the most elaborately designed children's area in the world, people would still complain. There will be good things and bad things about it and people will bring them up. Welcome to life.
No matter what CP comes up with, people find something to pick on.......no matter how stupid and small it is.

Yeah.
I don't really have a problem with it. I'll take no theming and good rides over great theming and bad ride.. and the latter is normally what happens with heavily themed attractions.
I just wish CP would KEEP what they put on rides. I'm fine with the little theming.. but getting ride of what little bits there are is really depressing.

3rd train of the Season on MF! 2007
ok i'm new and have a random question but dont really know where to ask it...if u get a season pass, can other people use it???
They have showed us with Castaway Bay that they can do themeing. What bothers me is when you see some themeing for a while and then it gets cut back.
dragster's themeing
disaster transports different phases
milleniums lights
raptor's cobra roll strobes
power towers lights that work randomly
maverick's mist effects
I guess it bothers me when they just get rid of something that causes a problem without trying to make adjustments to keep these enhancements going. No I do not want to sacrifice a good ride for great themeing (aka Expedition Everest). But I would like a little more effort in keeping what was once there.
well I hope they try to re-theme the new kids rides. They still had a lot of references to Looney Tunes. You could see the outline of the old characters. They used to look really cool...till it was Kidworks

I wouldn't exactly call some fake tree stumps sitting on the side of slight grade theming... ;)

To my knowledge, those things are still working like they did when they opened.

What do you think about bad theming and bad ride? *cough* disastertransport *cough* ;)

The MF lights still have timing issues on the sequences as far as I have observed, and PT still only has about half of the lights on at any given time. Power Tower's light problems are very noticeable if you look at pictures from when it opened and realize how much of it was lit up. Not to mention that the lights used to change colors, kind of the same principle as MF, only not as radical of a sequence. I still remember sitting on a beach in Vermillion at night and watching the chase lights on Mantis and the colors on Power Tower back when those rides were the big new ones. I used to have a Power Tower calendar as well, but I never realized they were the ones that they only gave out to full time employees and such until a few years after my mom threw it out.

Three things you need to fix anything in the universe: duct tape, WD-40, and a hammer. Duct tape if it moves and it shouldn't, WD-40 if it doesn't move and should, and the hammer as the last resort.
I think that one year instead of putting in a new ride or fixing the kids area, they should just fix all of the above mentioned problems. It would make the park look a lot nicer.

Obviously TOUCHDOWN does not go in the park at night. Those lights have been screwed up for at least two years. Lance in Live Entertainment said that those lights are very expensive to replace. I'll bet that is why they don't work properly. Another budget cut!
On the note of good theming.........homerun with Maverick, Dragster and Castaway Bay.
On the note of bad theming........Disaster Transport (what a joke)

Thee Top Dog, I do go to the park at night, and have been doing so since 1999. I don't remember those lights being any "better" then they are now (which in my opinion is still great.) PT's changing lights were always only on the top arch, and MF's lights I have not noticed get dimmer, or have the timing off at all.
When Cedar Point first opened PT there were lights shining on the towers and on the top arch..........now they only shine on the top arch and they don't rotate color the way they used to.
Top Thrill Dragster had more lights shining on the tower, the lights are now missing but the footers are still there for the lights. They must have removed some 8 to 10 huge lights because they must not have been working.
MF lights don't all work either. Stand in line one in the station and look under the lift and look at how many lights are not working properly.
I think someone is cutting the lighting budget and it's a darn shame because when those things are all working right it is a grand show.
Come on CP, don't cut corners on theming, that is what makes the park so special.

Um... I hate to disagree, but I think that the rides are what make the park so special.
