CP Resorts

Does anyone know what the minimum age for renting a room at Hotel Breakers is? Im from Boston and I plan on going up this summer with my friends. Only one of us will be 18. So we dont know if we need someone to be 21 or if an 18 year old will be good enough. Do you think Hotel Breakers would make an exception for us is we had one 18 year old the rest 17 ?

From the Cedar Point Website:

To reserve a room online, guests must be 21 years or older or accompanied by a parent or legal guardian during their stay.

It's also a Sandusky City law so you may have to go a little farther out to like Perkins or Huron.

They definatley will not let you in if you are under 21. It was nice being sworn at by the children trying to get initial room keys for their parents...can't give them out unless they're 21.

Hmmm I'm in the same situation, OZZGOOD4ME. Would anyone happen to know off-hand the nearest place that would allow an 18 year old to rent a room?

Comfort Inn up Cleveland Road at the Rye Beach Road exit for Route 2 is pretty good.

Cheaper usually than most of the Sandusky ones and less traffic. Almost always has rooms too. Just a few miles up the road.

Great thanks for the help guys. I m still trying to convince my 21 year old brother but he just got a good job at Sam Adams so he might not be able to take off enough time over the summer... dang

A question for stardoors -- or anyone else who might now -- are you allowed to check in early and take advantage of that day's Early Entry?

I realize the room won't be ready, but can someone check in at, say, 8am to get the tickets-Munch Money, resort ID, etc. to be allowed into the park or is that only for the following morning?

Yes you can, it's call pre-registering. Just come to the desk, tell them you want to pre-reg, we can give you your package and everything, sell you tickets, give you your early enterance pass, and anything else that we can without giving you your room keys and/or number. Once and a while people do get lucky, especially earlier in the season, and they are able to get into their room at 8a.m. This doesn't happen all that often though. The rooms are never guarenteed to be ready by 4 p.m., even if you do pre-reg at 8a.m., the room might not be cleaned until 4 p.m. If you have anyother questions, just ask! I hope this helped! :)

Back to the Breakers this summer! :)

Thanks! One last question, can you upgrade a package? I know the standard package is for 2 one-day tickets and 2 after 5pm passes in terms of tickets but can you upgrade the 2 after 5pm passes into one-day tickets and just pay the difference? If not, are the passes transferable to someone else or can they only be used during your stay?

That's all. I promise.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but I think it's a general policy for hotels that you have to be 21 to rent a room. If that's true you won't be able to rent a room anywhere.

Now I'm not an expert on hotel's, so check for yourself to make sure.

Whenever I went down when I was younger than 21 I had to stay in one of the campgrounds. I think you just had to be 18 to get a campsite. Although it's not that bad, the campground are much cheaper than a hotel.

Sandusky is the only place I know of where 21 is the law, other places it's up to the hotel. Typically the nice resort hotels will set the age at 21 while most others (your typical best western, holiday inn, etc.) will set it at 18. It's not even consistent within the brands. Just start calling places, that works. Or there is a state park a short drive east of CP on the lake that lets 18's camp (off of SR2, unless I'm thinking of something else)

Once in a while if you go to the Resort Gate (by the Magnum) you can upgrade your night passes to day passes, but I'm not sure if they will still do that. I think it pretty much depended on the person working at the gate (as far as I know, I could be mis-informed). The passes can be used whenever, because Camper Village (and Sandcastle I believe) have season long package deals, so they don't know which package they come from. If you have any other questions, go ahead and ask! I don't mind answering them! :)

Does anybody know any REALLY cheap hotels around the area. I'm talking really cheap, it dont matter the accomadations as long as there are 2 bed and a roof. Anything is fine.

just so you guys know, im 17 and last year when i hot my liscense i went to a holiday inn like 3 min away from cedar point and had my parents give the credit card over the phone, and i took the same credit card to the hotel and they let me have the keys not a problem
I think the problem arises if you don't look old enough. My brother also got a room when he was 19 and the policy was 21.

What is most anticipated event of 2003? the debut of Dragster, the release of Metallica's new album, the release of Terminator 3, or the release of Matrix:Reloaded...tough call.

I had this problem last year when my cousin and I went down to CP. Every hotel around was 21 and we were 18 and 19.

This has been discussed to death on several occasions.

If your parents book a reservation for someone 18-20 it is possible to stay at the hotel (or at least used to be).

The front desk would make copies of all driver's licenses of room occupants. Then, they would call each of your parents to make sure they knew you were staying at the Point and with whom.

Finally, they would notify hotel security and tell them which room was occupied by "minors" and keep an eye on you.

They wouldn't let us do that last year so we had to drive home at night instead.

Had you actually booked the room in advance or did you just drop in trying to book a room on the same day?
Hey Stardoors!

We have a room booked in Hotel Breakers Tower section June 29-July 2! We requested Tower and they said they would note on our reservation! We were going to try and save money by staying in one of the older rooms, but heard bad things about them. But what is the difference between the Tower/East and the Bon Air, etc..?
