CP RARE ENTRIES CONTEST IS HERE!!!

PLEASE READ THE ENTIRE POST BEFORE ANSWERING!

And so was set forth the third (or is it fourth) annual off-season Cedar Point "Rare Entries" contest.

We've added an extra element this year. In previous years, the questions all had fairly simple answers - it was merely up to you to strategize to decide which answers would be least known.

This year, it's a bit different. Some research will be required. The purpose is to make the contest a tad more difficult in addition to teaching you a thing or two that maybe you didn't know before. Hope your internet search skills are up to snuff!

IMPORTANT - DO NOT POST ANSWERS HERE. INSTEAD, E-MAIL THEM TO ME AT duanecahill@comcast.net.

For each of the items below, your objective is to give an answer which is both correct and will be duplicated by as few other people as possible. The lowest score wins with a perfect score being 10 (1 per answer). Specific rules and regulations follow the 10 questions below.

Be very careful. Pay close attention to the wording of the question, or you’re likely to get it wrong…

1. Name a US amusement/theme park that currently has a roller coaster with the same name as any current CP roller coaster.

2. Give the name of any US-produced movie (not TV) featuring a character whose last name is Sandusky.

3. Give a date in 2004 on which the park hours is scheduled to open at 6:00 PM.

4. Give the URL of a website (not page) dedicated to Cedar Point (and it had to be in operation Dec 31, 2003 – no creating one now and posting your own URL).

5. Name any state in the union that has a town (and post office) called “Cedar Point”.

6. Name a location where you can audition in person for a 2004 Live E show.

7. To the nearest whole dollar, give the closing price of Cedar Fair, L.P. stock for any day in 2003.

8. Pick one - Coke or Pepsi?

9. Give a published radio frequency that is licensed to Cedar Fair for use in Sandusky.

10. Give the name of a town, that when directions are entered into yahoo! maps, is between 100.0 and 101.0 miles from One Cedar Point Drive, Sandusky Ohio.

If your answer to a question is correct, then your score is the number of people who gave that answer or an answer I consider equivalent. If wrong, or if you skip the question, you get a high score equal to the total number of entrants as a penalty. The scores on the different questions are ADDED to produce a final score.

As an example of the scoring, say I'd asked for a color on the Cedar Point logo. 18 people say green, 5 say red, 3 skip the question, 2 say orange, one answers Snoopy and one answers lime.

The 19 people who answered "green" or "lime" are correct (as I deem them to be the same asnwer) and score 19 each for that question.

The 5 people who answered red are correct and score 5 each for that question.

The 3 people who skipped the question score 30 each for that question.

The 2 people who answered orange are wrong and also score 30 each for that question.

The person who answered "Snoopy" is wrong and in addition to scoring 30 points, gets publicly admonished for not reading the question.

The person who answered white is correct and scores 1, the best possible score, for that question.

As moderator, I will be the sole judge of what answers are correct, and whether two answers are to be considered the same.

For my convenience please do not quote this message when responding via e-mail.

Your message should preferably consist of just the 10 answers, numbered 1 to 10, along with any explanations required, and your GTTP screen name.

IMPORTANT - There are no "trick" questions. Questions are not intended to be hard to understand, and normally no clarifications will be given during the contest. Only the first answer you submit counts; no changes are allowed after submitting an entry, nor alternate answers within an entry. If you provide any explanatory remarks along with your answers, you are responsible for making it sufficiently clear that they are not part of the answers.

I will occasionally post the names of the entrants throughout the week. This is done for two reasons: It lets you know if I've received your entry, and since there are no responses given in this forum, it is also a "bump".

The contest will end at 6:00 PM Eastern Time on Monday, January 26.

Good luck!

Haha Coke or Pepsi? That's gonna need some research;) Nice questions BTW.

Yeah, the Coke/Pepsi question is for sure going to spike the scores. I like this...it requires thinking and research v/s looking at a park map for the majority of the answers. Good luck everybody!

The damn Yahoo Maps service is busy:)
Some of those are difficult. I probably spent 15 minutes searching for an answer, any answer, for number 2.

Mozilla may have taken two years to reach v1.0, but it is more stable and secure than IE will ever be.

Number two is the only one I can't get. That map one took me a good 30 minutes though.
Yeah, I spent a while looking for the answer for #10...I'd find one town that was like 97.8 and then one that seemed a little farther away was like 111.2! Good luck everyone! :)

9 is tough :) at least, to have an entry nobody else will ;)
Wanna bet?? :)

Actually.. I've excluded myself from #9 as it is part of my job and honestly.. it wouldn't be fair as repeater freq's are harder to look up.

no kidding. I don't have a copy of police call around anymore and FCC.gov is hard to find crap on. Im sure it would be easier for you... but unfortunately, blah :p

Edit: Found Beyond Police Call... Now to figure out if its still valid from 1995.

#9 was a toughie, #10 too.. #2 was probably one of the easiest - but then again I knew where to look

Arrrgghhh.. I've been as close as 99.7 miles... Go figure.

#2 is easy if you know where to look...luckily, it's one of my favorite sites! :)

#9 took me a bit of time to find, but other than that it wasn't too bad. They sure were creative though.

Number 10 took forever. I even found a city that was 101.1 miles from One Cedar Point drive. Ahhhhh...just finished my first Cedar Point Rare Entries contest.

I know this is going to sound mega stupid, but what is a radio frequency? Is that like a radio station? I don't know exactly what I'm looking for...if someone could just explain what that is...if that's allowed :)
