Thats pretty cool that Michigan residents get $10 off. I think thats a good move by Cedar Point because we dont go back to school for a long time. Plus the economy is so bad in this state that the $10 off is going to get me to go again before school starts.

Must be that Cedar Points attendance is not so great this year. Because they keep offering one thing after another to get people to come.

Just because they keep making offers doesn't mean that attendance has been down. It just means they are finding other ways to draw people in. They've found a market that they might be able to pull another visit out of.

I'm wonderning why they didn't include PA in the deal?

I have a season pass, but it would have been a nice way to get some friends to the park with me.

When do your schools go back? A new MI law took effect this year pushing the start date back to the Tuesday after Labor Day. So public elementary and high schools can't start till then. Lots o people not so terribly happy with that.

Well Jugga, That depends on what district you live in... My kids started back on Wednesday.. That was because when the teachers signed their contracts before this law went into effect.

What I find amusing about the MI resident discount is that its always easy (at least near Metro Detroit) to find Pepsi cans with a $10 discount on them.

At least this means I can save an extra $0.10! ;)

toocool - And it looks like the Detroit kids aren't going to start for a long time.

I didn't realize it was affected by contracts, I thought the law modified any existing contracts to push the start date back to after Labor Day.

When I went to school in Cleveland, we always started the new school year on the Wed. after Labor Day.

I don't know when/why this was changed, but I think it's dumb, and the kids of today are getting short changed in their summer vacation.

I'd rather be in my boat with a drink on the rocks,
than in the drink with a boat on the rocks.

Yeah, it is dumb. Why start classes, only to take a long weekend? Seems like a waste of time and money to me.

Personally, I always liked starting the week before Labor Day. You had a 3 or 4 day week to start the year. Then a long weekend and a shortened second week. Nothing ever happens the first week anyway, and the second week was a nice light load because of the holiday. Then we'd really get down to business the week after that.

True. But, it sort of limits the parents ability to take a long vacation at the end of the summer. But, I definitely see what you're saying - from a student's point of view, its not so bad. It just seems inefficient.

But families have the 2 months prior to that to take vacations. Its not like they had a 1 week window in which to take a vacation without taking the kid out of school.

True, but when you've got a limited amount of vacation (job), its always nice to take it during an extended weekend, so that you can maximize the amount of time you have. I realize its a pretty specific case, but you get the idea.

JuggaLotus's avatar

Yeah. I can see that.

Peculiarly enough, we start the Wednesday after Labor Day, yet I recall starting on a Tuesday for as long as I can indeed do so. Our planners list the first day as the Tuesday as well yet every other depiction of the date is Wednesday. Hmm...

Also strange, I have two first periods and no sixth. Go figure. :(

If you live in michigan and get the disscount then can you still use the 10 doller can to make it $19.95?

No. It says on the can you can't use more than one coupon at a time.

Favorite Coasters 1.MF 2. TTD 3. Raptor 4. Gemini 5. Magnum
Maverick perhaps? I wanna RIDE ON.

But the can isn't a coupon, technically. This isn't a coupon at all, you only need to prove residency and not provide documentation offical of hearing of this.

Then again I've been wrong before...

Usually the wording is "Can not be combined with any other offers" and they are both offers. One just has you bring in a can and the other a MI ID.

Though if you really want to get 600 pepsi cans and cash them in at MI and you'll get in for free ;).
