CP Off Season featured in Cleveland PD

The Cleveland Plain Dealer has a nice feature on the winter time activities at the park.

The online version does not have the photos from the hard copy, a photo of work on the Gemini, the winter time maintence shed, and a few others. It is worth the 35 cents.

You'll see the CP story under the news section on this page...

I got it this morning, its a good article, I loved the pictures.

Is it to much to ask if someone would be kind enough to scan those pictures so those of us far away can see them. If it is to much trouble don't bother, just thought I would ask. Very good article by the way.
I was glad to see they are working on Gemini. The lift hill railing and walk looked warped last year...made me nervous just because it looked shaky.
It's not real bright to scan copyrighted pictures...

Will there be more????

I still hear "Plain Dealer" and get a mental image of a guy in a brown suit selling drugs on the corner.

So long as you don't try to sell those pictures...
Not true.. reproduction of any kind without written permission is a violation of copyright laws..

Been there done that.. Ever try to fight NASA for using your pics in a presentation?? hehehe.. It's not fun...

Also helps when you spent most of your teen years working at your parents printing company..

Red Garter Rob is correct. If I remember correctly, if someone uses a logo, picture, slogan, etc..., the party holding the copyright in most cases is required to sue or they could lose their copyright to the material in question. Granted the party holding the copyright has to be aware that someone else is using their material. I'm not sure of everything that is covered but if you remember years ago a man was tattooing his body with Disney material (why I have no idea). He got on the news and the next thing you know he was being sued by Disney. All's they wanted was a promise from him to stop. But I guess it's an example of the copyright laws being enforced.

Good artical...

We call it the "Vain Pleader."

Anyway, yes, you'd be violating copyright, regardless of use. Try stealing my photos and see if I don't sue you.

NASA photos, those made public, are available royalty free, in the public domain. You're a tax payer... you paid for them and can use them as you wish provided it isn't a commercial use. Even then, it depends, and some stuff is still free to use. Depends on the area of NASA it's from.

Yeah Jeff,
They were using photo's of OUR project for something they wanted to use it in without our permission.
It was all worked out in the end and needless to say, I had the pleasure of hearing that because one department was using the metric system for their measurements, and another used english units, two years of my hard work slammed into the planet surface of Mars and a speed that, lets just say, it wasn't tested for. hehehe

I stand corrected. Still if I go to Saturn or Kinkos they will copy a picture from a book or other copyrighted material.

Did anyone notice that the picture on the top of the first page shows the missing Vertigo Tower? Can you say ooops! They must have taken it a couple days after it fell. The bottom of the tower is still standing and it clearly broke beneath the part were the pieces are bolted together.

Not that any of the GP will pay attention anyway.

Magnum is sinking!, they may copy the pages out of the book, but they shouldn't be.

Direct from a copyright statement used in most books today: "No part of this book shall be reproduced or transmitted in any form or by any means, electronic, mechanical, magnetic, photographic including photocopying, recording..."

Andrew, that usually is with a statement that goes something without prior consent. Paying royalties and such. I'm sure Kinkos takes no responsibility to what you ask is copied. They do their job, it's the person paying Kinkos responsibility to do the hard work of getting the royalties. Basically I think places like Kinkos have statements like "We are not responsible for copyright infringement." Although I've personally never used a Kinkos like place.

Anyways, what was this topic again?
