I had a season pass for the first time the past two years, so I went to Cedar Point for one weekend each October for the Halloweekends. It was absolutely packed both Saturdays! It was a 45 minute wait for Magnum, which was busier than any day I went in the summmer. Anyways, is this typical of CP in October?
No it's not. I've always gone on the Sundays because it's usually dead. Sadly I may be only going to CP maybe once a year. :(
Fall crowds at Cedar Point are notorious for following the weather. A warm, sunny day in October will bring out every person and three of their brothers.

October is my favorite month out of the operating season at CP. Though it all hinges on the weather. Just the overall atmopshere in the park is different and I love it.
I feel sorry for people who don't drink. When they wake up in the morning, that's as good as they're going to feel all day.
Walt tells the truth. In recent years the busiest days of the season are on such Saturdays. Sundays are less busy but they have less haloweekend attractions open. Saturdays can fill every parking space on point. Fridays, while having many rides shut down for inadaquate staffing, have the best atmosphere of any days of the year in my experience. I have some very nostalgic memories on Halloweekend fridays.
I had not gone to Halloweekends for two seasons until 05. Back in 2003, it was dead and and all rides were a walk on.
Fast forward to 2005....wow....honestly, the days we were at the park were the busiest days I have ever seen at Cedar Point in my short 29 years on this planet, and I have never missed a season.
On a side note, since we're discussing October, does it seem to anyone else that closing day is a bit unceremonial? It was sad to see none of the Halloweekends stuff going....no fog....no fireworks.....just lights out and see ya next year.
A little off-topic, but are some rides not open in May because of inadaquate staffing?

You want Dick at the front of the park flipping a giant light switch to off?;)

Nope. They don't run a Six Flags operation.

Now that would be showmanship...!
Actually, Id prefer to see Dick, Tony, Tyler, and Snoopy in faux barbershop quartet outfits, singing an accopella rendition of "Goodnight, Ladies!" at the exit gates from 9pm to 10pm.

I agree that they could do at least "something". It doesnt have to be big but it should be a kind of "Farewell ______(insert year) season" ceremony.
It would be cool to see a fireworks display (like opening day fireworks) from a significant place in the park.

October in the park can be great. It seems there is always one or two warm sunny Saturdays where we get absolutely packed. One way in the Fright Zone isn't the most pleasant experience, but it would be complete gridlock if they did it any other way. Maybe this year with a third Fright Zone to spread the crowds a bit one way won't be necessary.
And then one day you find ten years have got behind you
No one told you when to run, you missed the starting gun
It might, but I think with a third it will just bring more people in general. If it doesn’t go one way, it will come close to. I’m wondering what the chances are of the new zone going one way, being where it is and all.
I've been going in Sept. for the last 2 years now and it's been better than coastermania no waiting in line
saturdays in october are a bit busy but there is always this one saturday that it is just insane--it usually falls in place with columbus day but all depends on the weather
99-02 area 3 food service supervision
05,06 auditor foods service
Where is the 3rd fright zone going to be?
Where White Water Landing was...

It usually is crowded when i go on Saturdays in October but its still always a fun time to go. I love the halloweekends.
