CP Halloweekends Question

I posted this over a Cbuzz, just wanted to see what you CP people had to say:

Well, my family was actually supposed to go to CP in late July but my mom got sick and had to have 4 inches of her intestine removed. So I just assumed we wouldn't be going this year but yesterday my dad told me he made reservations for the Breakers Sep. 23-24. I was just wondering about Halloweekends.

We are going to CP just to ride the rollercoasters, we don't care about Halloweekends. So I know some of the rides aren't open Friday nights, but what about Saturday?

My mom hates halloween and thinks it is awful..etc..My sister is a wimp when it comes to haunted houses, I don't really care. Can we still walk the midway without people jumping out at us? You have to go to certain places if you want to get scared, right?

Last, how are the crowds? Sorry, I had to add that in.

Any of your comments would be appreciated. Thanks.

I went October 23rd last year. Friday night has limited ride availability but everything is open Saturday and Sunday (except Dragster at this point). There are "Midway Monsters" who walk the midways most of the time. I think at night is when they jump out and mainly in Fright Zone (Frontier Trail) and CarnEvil (Wicked Twister midway). The day I went was rainy so the crowds were low. The rain didn't ruin the trip, it was foggy and misty because of the rain so it really set the mood. I love Halloweekends and would recommend it to everyone.

We'll miss you MrScott and Pete

I went to HalloWeekends with a friend last year, and from what I can remember, most of the midways are "safe" except for the Frontier Trail. My friend and I walked through it last year, and she was absolutely terrified of the masked people jumping out at us (think nail marks in my arm). It was marked as a HalloWeekends area on the map, though, so it didn't come as a complete surprise.

As far as I can remember, all of the coaster were up and running the Saturday we went. The place was pretty packed, but not any more so than on the average summer day. I do remember that Werewolf Canyon had a massive, massive line at night, but if you're not going for the Halloween stuff, that shouldn't matter anyway.

Hope that helps,

Kris

Are you sure this isn't the Atlantic Ocean?

GO TIGERS!

A flyer would be amazing, Cedar Point has the reputation for doing what no one else has done, what if they found a way to build a flier that was a mile and a half long and went as fast as Millenium Force? I bet it would be easier to handle those g forces than on a regular coaster. I would only hope the don't hire someone stupid to design the coaster and make every loop be done with the riders on their backs. Not to mention they have plenty of water around that land, why not use it to their advantage. ****, CP could even build a small island out in the lake that was large enough to contain a loop or to for this flyer and maybe some other rides and shops for future investment. Yeah the point is getting pretty crowded with rides but at the same time, I cannot think of a single area in the park where two different coasters cross over or under the another. If they really are getting that tight on space maybe the focus should turn to scenary and a bit of a return to it's roots of CEDAR TREES! Kind of sucks going to a place called Cedar Point and seeing most of the natural landscaping cleared away, at least if the stuff was replanted to help make it more enchanting. Like someone said before me, Cedar Point could get very creative with the space they currently have. For all anyone knows, they will buy up the land before the causeway and turn that into a parking lot, and what's there now for parking will get turned into parkland. One can only hope, besides the "pre-causeway" is a dumpy section of town anyways. And it could be fun to make people ride a trolly or monorail to get to the park.

I can answer your questions quite well:

On Friday nights almost none of the smaller rides are operating. Just the big coasters, except for dragster (expected to be IR for the rest of the season:(.

On saturdays all rides are operating. No, you will not get scared on most of the midways. There are monsters throughout the park but the friendly ones are on the non scary walkways. They will not approach you. The fright zone and Carn Evil are only scary during the night. Friday and saturday are both busy for halloweekends, but on friday most of the crowd is there to get scared so the coasters in operation have decently short lines. Sundays are slow. I hope that this helped

I think Halloween is stupid, but I still love HalloWeekends because of the fall atmosphere. Cedar Point is still pretty much Cedar Point. The entire park is open on Saturday and Sunday. Just make sure you enjoy the Frontier Trail during the day and then after the Fright Zone opens, go enjoy something else.

You can still enjoy the park like you would during the summer, just don't go to the Halloween stuff (though you may still want to check out the magicians).

Fright Zone and Carnevil are pretty obviously marked, so it's not easy to wander in and not know that you're going into a scarry attraction. Oddly enough, we still have dozens of people who somehow seem to not notice all the warnings about it being frightening, especially for young children...

And then one day you find ten years have got behind you
No one told you when to run, you missed the starting gun

I don't think it's that they don't notice so much as they don't care. And they figure if their child gets frightened then its the workers/parks fault rather than their own.

Dont we love to do that wonder in a scary fright zone and not knowing we went in it. All i know i never done that because i see the big skull or the bodyless guy. But Carnevil never go near there anyways.

I was at the park Halloween Weekend(October 29-31) last year and I don't remember it being very crowded at all.

We got there on Friday night and I know we rode Top Thrill Dragster and Millennium Force a few times, but I don't think we tried getting on any other coasters that night so I'm not sure if they were running.

Last weekend is packed every year. Especially closing day. Don't bother to show up. ;)

Yeah, don't they make you help clean up the last weekend like playtime when you were little? ;)
