CP from Akron

Ok, I am planning a spur-of-the-moment trip to CP tomorrow from Akron, and I just realized that the only way I know to get there involves early morning Cleveland traffic. Are there any other ways to get up there from the Akron area, without taking I-77 to I-90 or Route 8 to the Turnpike, that are anywhere near as fast as those ways are? I go to UA, and normally only get to go on the weekends, when Cleveland traffic is easy.

Thanks so much in advance.

Not sure if this is any help:

I think you'll have to get yourself to the Turnpike by some means.

224 west to 250 north.

it's really simple.

I live in Wadsworth, and that's the way I go. Takes me an hour and 15 minutes from here.

Hey Jeff I've made the trip up to Cedar Point 10 times this year and I can tell you the easiest route. What I usually do is take route 8 north to the turnpike. Once I get on the turnpike, I take that for a while until I get to 57 lorain Elyria exit. When you get off there, at the toll booth you will go to the right which is Lorain. You'll take 57 for a mile until you get to a light. That light will take you to route 2 north. Make a left turn at the light from there and it will take you right back on the highway to route 2. After a couple miles, take the Sandusky route. Do not get off at the Toledo exit. Anyway take route 2 until you get to an exit called Rye Beach Road. When you get off there make a right hand turn and then make another left by a shell gas station. That road is route 6 and is only 7 miles until you get to Cedar Point. I hope you have fun and since you live in akron, IM me, maybe you and me could get together sometime and plan a trip up there.

Akron is a big city. The state routes are not going to be faster. 77 to the turnpike won't be bad at all. I used to work right at that interchange and it was no problem during rush hour.

Make sure you get off the turnpike at Elyria and take 58 up the little jog to US 2 west. Get off at Rye Beach Rd. and follow the signs.

Jeff, there you go giving bum directions.

Get off of the turnpike in Elyria at Rt 57 and head north up to Rt 2/I-90. It's about half a mile up 57.

58 is over in Lorain/Amherst and will not get you to Rt 2 from the turnpike.

My bad... I can't count. I would say "the exit with the mall," but that's not clear until you pass it!

Jeff Young there is also an exit a little farther west of Rt 57 exit on the turnpike. If you get off at the Baumhart Rd exit of the turnpike and head north you can then get to Rt 2 and head west to Rye Beach Rd. This will get you past some of the traffic in Elyria and around the mall.

Traffic or no traffic, taking Baumhart will add 5-10 minutes to the trip.

Are you talking about the exit were Great Wolf Lodge is?

EDIT: Lol, hes at CP right now and you're still giving him directions... *** Edited 8/19/2004 10:59:46 PM UTC by Huggy Bear***

No... this is Elyria, about 40 miles east.
