CP FAQ

It seems like a good idea to make a FAQ with all the common questions asked and upload it somewhere. People have talked about it but, as far as I know, nobody has made a FAQ besides things on their personal web sites, and the CP web site. I started one with a few questions at http://www.bright.net/~jmstuckm/cpfaq.html . I'm not sure if I made any mistakes, can someone check it? Also, if you have something to add, please send it to me! (I'm not looking for every bit of trivia, just things that people want to know.)
If other CP fans are like me, then every little bit of trivia IS what they want to know! :)
FYI, the file is intended for people new to the CP scene (which is why the info is so basic)
Here are the FAQs I need answered:

-What year was the entrance sign on Cleveland Road taken down?

-What year was the waterball installed?

-When was the last year for the Swiss Chalet?

-What year did they first paint the Blue Streak Blue?

-What wwere the IMAX movies in '92, '97?

this is just the start I have about 100 more questions to be answered.

Well, I don't have the time to visit the site now, but it sounds like a good idea to have an FAQ site.

...and enjoy the rest of your day at Cedar Point, The Am-aaaa-zement park!
Dan I got your answer on the IMAX for 1997. This was the first time I went to Cedar Point and I could ride all the coasters. I am ALMOST 100% POSITIVE it was "Speed". It started with this caveman guy running after something - a bird maybe, and ended going through like a minute worth of a black hole with colorful stars surrounding it.
Dan I think I can help you with a couple ?'s you asked. The IMAX movie in 1992 was about the Rolling Stones I found a old 1992 brochure a couple weeks ago. And I think it says by the Blue Streak entrance on a sign how many years after Blue Streak was open that they painted it blue, if I am correct I think it was two years after it opened!

I want to know where the Phone Operators are. I remember hearing somewhere back by Sand Castle but dont remember who i heard it from or if it was even true.
I think the main phone operators are off Point across from Commons.

The place your thinking about Dan is the ESV, Employee Services Department. I think that the main phone operators are probably in the marketing department.

I believe that the people who run the 'answer line' are off-point. But the main PBX and phone operator is (or at least *was*) in the Breakers.

Well, I believe the phone operators are in the Breakers. The EVC (employee visitor center) at the corner of First Street and the Causeway used to be ( may still be) where the 1-800-Best-Fun calls were handled.
Dan, I think the idea of an FAQ section is designed for MORE general types of questions which keep appearing here month after month, ie:" How crowded will CP be on fill in the blank?"
Maybe I can help put this section together.
As for the last year of The Swiss Chalet, I beleive it was 1994, I think Macaroni's opened the same year as the "outdoor" Bear Country and didn't that area open in 1995?

I think Macaroni's has been around longer than that ... (time out whilst I check my old maps ... where did that 92 map go ...)

Macaroni's is listed on the 1993 map. But I'm pretty sure its first year was 1992. Swiss Chalet is listed on the 1991 map.

Yes, the FAQ is intended for questions like "Does Cedar Point have a space problem?" Things that are really annoying to hear over and over again. Thank you to everyone that read it and found things to add!
Park Information is located in EVC (on the Causeway as mentioned before).
The Cedar Point operator (PBX) as well as hotel reservationists are in the Breakers.
Here's some great trivia I picked up on over the summer:
- If you walk from the main entrance all the way back to the Mean Streak entrance along the Gemini Midway, and walk all the way back to the front along the Frontier Trail, you've just walked a distance of 2.1 miles!

- A little over 2000 trash cans adorn the Cedar Point Midways.

- A can of Pepsi in employee break areas = $.35
A bottle of Pepsi in the park = $2.00

- Number of rooms in Hotel Breakers = 650
Number of rooms in Sandcastle Suites = 187
Number of sites at Camper Village = 224
Number of rooms at Breakers Express = 350

- That big brick house along the Cedar Point parking lot belongs to Dick Kinzel.

E-mail me if you have any other specific questions...there's a lot of info in our manuals!

I think that was covered in several replies, Bob.
