CP drainage system

Is it me or does it seem like the drainage system at the point is terriable? It seems like everytime it rains for more then ten minutes, there are large areas of standing water all over.Yesterday for the first time i looked for sewer drains and found few. The standing water was bad Im talking thirty yard puddles. Am I just being stupid?
Nah.....ur not just being stupid...i was at C.P. on Sunday and when it started raining...I was near the M.F. So I walked up to the front of the park and already it was basically flooded about an Inch high. You could go swimming or get a water ride in for the day right there...heheh

Hoody Hooo!!!!!!!
And then you get the little kids who like to stomp in the middle of those big puddles and splash everyone in a 20 foot radius.
And Big Kids like me....lol:-)

Don't you just love those little darlings? ;)
Definately, I love walking behind some kid and his mom when suddenly, he gets the urge to stomp and get the surrounding 5 people wet, I just love that!!

Anyway, once I saw some workers that used brooms to move the standing water to a place where it can drain.

At least at CP they squeegee the midways ... unlike another park which I (S) won't (F) mention (O).

The drainage is bad. Just ask someone who's been at Camper Village during a bad storm. But I'd be willing to bet it would be pretty costly to improve, so they just live with it.

One time in 98 it rained so hard for about 10mins. that there was water flooding the shops on the main midway. They had to teke things off the ground and put them up. I couldn't believe it.

They generally keep up with it and push the water off.

Walt is so right. I know a certain area of a certain park right on the new formed concrete near the gate that has several inches when it rains.

GEMINI! Thanks for reminding me. I stayed there with my family in June. And on the day we left, it had been raining just about all night and into the morning. We packed up the best we could in the rain working around small puddles in our site. The road was almost completely flooded, just about 4 feet across the middle wasn't. When we drove out, we saw campsites that had 2 inches of water all over. Now we all know why tents aren't allowed!!!
The strange bit is that this season they did (attempt to) make some improvements to the drainage. For instance, I think the drains under the Corkscrew are new this season. I'm guessing, though, that the sewers are pretty shallow up there, and I wouldn't be surprised if they are still below lake level, meaning that all the rainwater would have to be pumped away...a process which would tend to reduce the effective capacity of the system. Mind you, this is only a guess on my part.

I do know that when they get huge downpours like they did the last time I was up there (6/24), they don't just get ponds forming on the midway, they get rivers in odd places.
