CP Donation

As I was driving into work and grousing about having to work on Christmas Eve, a local Detroit radio station began talking about CP's annual donation to children's charity at this time every year. They were intrigued by the large amount of money donated that comes from the money lost by riders on the CP coasters, apparently over $7K this year (which averages to about $50 a day).

Although I've known about this for years, it was a real pick me up to hear about CP, and nice to hear high praises for my favorite summer "home".

Merry Christmas everyone.

Another thing you don't hear about is the donations that go to local charities from the hotels. Whenever they change over bedding, furniture, televisions, etc they will call the local groups and offer the old stuff to them. When the old section of Breakers was torn down to make way for East and the Tower, truckloads of older but still acceptable furniture was take out by charitable groups.

They also donted $1700 worth of aluminium cans, according to www.virtualmidway.com

Man people arn't losing as much as they usually do at CP. I have an article here that my aunt cut out of the Cleveland Plain Dealer from this time a couple years ago that said that they collected and doanated $12,000. Darn economy and people having less change!
