Just thought you guys may be interested in the fact that CP is extending their advertising radius, at least here to Chicago. I got a nice decent size 2 page insert in the Chicago Tribune this morning, it mainly emphasized "the best vacation on the planet" and "the best coaster-thrills on the planet". Pretty cool though, since I haven't seen them advertise here before.
I found that in the tribune this morning too! I have not seen them advertise in Chicago newspapers before but they did have a billboard up on I-80 last year near the Indiana border. I also saw a couple commercials on TV last year.
I saw a TV commercial in Baton Rouge, LA over the weekend (5/21-5/22) I guess they aren't just a regional player any longer.
I seen on another site that someone had seen a commercial in Southern California...
Im in Northwest Ohio so im used to seeing comercials and newspaper ads all the time. And now its pretty much a daily occurance.
The world looks better at 420 feet in the air... first ride May 14th, 2005
only 997 laps left on MF..
So i resurrect dead post... is that a bad thing?
I've also heard here in Las Vegas that CP commercials have been running on TBS, haven't seen for myself yet.
The Amazement Park
I never see any advertisments for Florida what so ever. Even in Sandusky there were no big flashy signs or billboards showing off the different rides and coasters. It was also hard finding the park because the roads are weird and the signs for the park weren't any bigger than streets signs. Why can't Cedar Point come up with a better marketing scheme for the city itself? One thing I love about the drive to Orlando is once your about an hour there you see cool billboards of all the good attractions.
3 Rollbacks- 2 back to back front row -dead serious- IT WAS THE SH*T!!!!!
Well you might think that anyone who lives an sandusky would know about Cedar Point. I live in Rochester NY and there is a park about an hour away called SFDL and there are just normal sreet signs to get there.

101 on Magnum and counting...
Yea but how about the people like me who are from out of town. I just expected more from the number one amusement park on the planet. Disney and Universal are worldwide known from all the advertisments. The state of Florida is pretty much filled with billboards and advertisments of Disney and Universal themeparks. I think Cedar Point needs to do the same thing along with Kings Island. The only real advertisment I saw on the way up to Ohio was a pamplet in a rest station for the Italian Job ride(kinda sad)

Why advertise heavily in an area that doesn't need it? When you go to Sandusky, you probably are there because of CP, the don't need billboards to get you to attend. Orlando is different in that they have more than one attraction near the city.
As far as other area attractions in the Sandusky area, on every trip to the Point I see billboards for Great Wolf Lodge, Castaway Bay, Jet Express, Kalahari, Breakers Express, African Safari (or whatever it's called) and a bunch of restaurants. That pretty much covers the attractions.

I'd rather be in my boat with a drink on the rocks,
than in the drink with a boat on the rocks.
I recently saw a CP commercial on HGTV. It was refreshing to see a CP commercial in Omaha, NE even though HGTV is a national carrier.
I feel responsible for the interest in CP in Chi.I've been singing it's praises for some 20 years.I know that I have influenced several people from Il. to make the trip.Do you suppose that I might get a cut?:)
Yea Pete I see where your coming from. There really is not much to advertise in that area and you either know about Cedar Point or you don't. Its just when I see a billboard for a ride it gets me more excited about the place (and I don't remember seeing one for Cedar Point or Kings Island).
