Countdown Lights

Does anyone know why the countdown lights on TTD were reduced from 6 rows to 4? *** Edited 5/22/2004 2:14:54 PM UTC by Erikjc***
I do not ever remember them being reduced. I do not think that they changed them since opening. I could be wrong though. I don't ever remember there being 6 sets of lights.
Nope, always 4.

From everyone on the CP&LE, RIP Mayor Scott...~

Yeah, it's on the top of their site, and on the picture with MF in the background, here: http://www.cedarpoint.com/public/inside_park/rides/thrill/ttd/pitstop/index.cfm
Yeah, but it was never like that in real life.

Here's a picture from last year

I have a love-hate relationship with Intamin.
I love their rides, I hate their policies. I guess I better start eating at Subway.

Isn't this pic computer generated? I didnt think it was a real life pic of the ride...or is it? http://www.cedarpoint.com/public/inside_park/rides/thrill/ttd/pitstop/index.cfm
OK, now that I look closer at the pic, it's obviously computer generated. It doesn't have catwalks or the elevator. Apparently the original design had 6 rows of lights, and that's what they did on all their animations before the ride was completed.
I could have sworn when I was there last May it was four rows.

Last May the lights on the tower weren't even there yet. They were installed early June. All the animated videos and photos before the ride was finished showed five rows of yellow and one row of green. When the ride opened it had the three rows of yellow and one row of green as it has today. I like how they made the countdown so short. It gives very little time to prepare yourself for the insane launch.

They went with three rows so that you could take off with, "3, 2, 1, FLY!" :)

Yeah, I went in early May and only about 1 or 2 if even that were up on the tower. BTW they've always had four rows of lights, and the banner at the top of the CP website is computer generated.
does anybody know why on the cleveland cam you can't see top thrills light work? you can see the train but i can never see the lights
If you look around the official site , you will see the photo day pics show only one light on the tower. *** Edited 5/23/2004 9:42:07 PM UTC by WHOEVER***

Wait till the ride is running at night. You can clearly see the lights come on.

Top Thrill Dragster has always had four lights, I documented the ride on video quite thoroughly last year and remember describing the lights to my mother. maybe the extra lights were just for fun, but I do see some sort of lift on there and the catwalks.

Life has it's ups and downs, might as well make it on a coaster!
