Could this be the Last Dance for the Coliseum?

I have heard rumors that this is the last year for Oceana and Peanuts Playground. That a new coaster will be added in that space. I thought it odd that the fund raiser at the Coliseum in Sept. is called The Last Dance. Could it be possible that the building (if this rumor is true) could be removed as part of this project? Just a thought. Part of me thinks this would make since if the rumor was true, but the other half doesn't believe they would remove such an historic landmark.

I doubt very much that it's going anywhere. That building is a fixture and characterizes the midway.

If you make an "L" shape from the playground around to Giant Wheel, you can see there is plenty of room for a new ride.

I wonder what the reason for calling it The Last Dance is? I agree there is plenty of room without removing it. Plus just think of the out cry from people if it was announced that they were removing the Coliseum!
hmmm, Jeff, are you giving a hint?  "L" shaped ride......Dick Kinzel saying,

"This is a ride that should be in every theme park."

Can we say Ghostrider?!?!  ehe, good hint and we can only hope for a CCI woodie in the vein of Ghostrider.

It was my understanding that the ballroom was being refurbished this year.  If that is the case then the coliseum won't be demolished, seeing as the ballroom is above the coliseum.

Hmmm...."L" shape.

We've had several conversations about the "L" and Ghostrider...

That building is one of the defining symbols of Cedar Point, it better not be leaving!

It would be nice of they got rid of those curtains(?) in the bay windows that seem to be fused to the glass.

I do think CP could and should use the building for a much better use than an arcade. Perhaps a big food court, or a NEW pirate ride!! Yes, that would be great! They should put the building to better use... It is so big.
I doubt that they would get rid of that Historical Building.  It adds a lot of character to the park.

I heard of an "L" shape too.

I think they should use the ballroom more, but I like the arcade on the ground floor. Oh wait, that used to be a beer garden. On second thought...

It's very hard to drink all day...
Unless you start first thing in the morning.

I say bring back the Beer garden!!
The event is called, "One Last Dance" which I thought was a theme from the Ballroom days of the 30's and 40's. The event is simply a fundraiser for the American Red Cross and United Way of Eire County. Tickets are $100 a head (if you want to go.) I don't think this is the start of bringing down a historical land mark that is 95 years old. I think it's awesome Cedar Point, American Red Cross and Untied Way are putting this on. I hope there is more events like this in the future. Don't sell out the Coliseum that quick.
