Could they really retire the Paddlewheel Excursions?

This has always been an issue for the park. They have never really intermixed rides of different levels for families with different tastes. Families have to split up to ride the kiddie rides, an meet back later. Designatged kiddie areas does not cut it for me.I would rather walk around and ride the rides as they come at desired thrill levels in the same area.

That is the main difference for a family oreinted park rather than a thrilled focused park. I feel Hershey does the family thing better than anyone. At any location in that park, I can let me kids of different riding levels and heights each go the ride they without walking a mile, or waiting for the other. Now that is family focus.

Okay, obviously you weren't around during the 1970's, as that is exactly how things were then, before the outbreak of the coaster wars.

I think he was referring to dsloban using a lot of exclamation points.

I like PWE, I think they could expand the Starlight Experience to included PWE. My Last PWE cruise was ruined by some jack ass that kept intrupting the spiel of the Captain by going. "hey do you know what they are building next year. Are the rumors true about the Island for Halloweekends? Are they really tearing down Meanstreak? Please tell me what they are doing for next years ride." It was annoying as hell, I finally turned to the guy and told him the carp need some company why not go swim with them. He then pouted until the boat was docked. Later in the day we ran into him again in at Iron Dragon doing the same thing to the person that was checking heights at the entrance. I thought about taking a picture of the fellow and posting it here so people could bug him.

You are correct. I shouldn't have said always - the park was much more family oriented during the 70s. I was around in those days, and really miss it. Now that I have kids, I find myself enjoying Waldemeer, Kennywood and Hershey more than CP for the intermixed family environment.

Matt D, that's an intriguing idea. PWE would be an amazing nighttime journey through a series of displays like that. Wonder if the powers that be have given it any thought. I'm all in favor of expanding Starlight.

WaveSwinger, are you sure that is why people were held under the pavilion from 2003 until present? I find it hard to swallow, but I will admit I maybe wrong, this is not a personal attack. I thought they were kept under the pavilion becuase of the risk of guest being unattended while waiting and finding their way into the lagoon. Like I said I could be wrong, I just dont see something flying to the dock of PWE from TTD. I could see it on the other hand making it to the path way to camp snoopy but they dont seem too concerned about covering that path way.

^Yeah, sort of strange because I've seen the line stretch back underneath the tower.

Read the HWeekends thread. Zeek talks about almost being hit by falling things from TTD while at Terror Island. It can happen.

Let's Get Weird.

Once again I could be wrong but, I would find it easier to get hit from something falling from MF on terror Island but not from TTD. Like I said I could be wrong and I am not an expert but those scenerios(Sp) seem more likely.

I hope the boats stay! It is a nice break when you have been riding coasters hard and also its nice to ride with people who are not keen on coasters like my husband!

Life is like a rollercoaster! It is full of ups and downs

I can vouch from experience that the dock area is a prime landing zone for loose articles on TTD. The dock area, while not ON the island, is a part of Terror Island.

I've been on Paddlewheel 3 times this year with a different captain each time. I was pretty impressed by 2 out of the 3. The 3rd one may have only been disappointing because it was 20 minutes until closing time.
