Cost to Rent out CP

Does anybody know how much it costs a buisness to rent out CP for a day?

Does anybody know if this is even possible? I am not sure at all! I think that Six Flags Ohio was rented out one day last year but I am not sure. All I know is that it would probably be a heck of a lot of money! I mean, imagine what the operating costs of the park are a day (the staff wages and electricity alone)! I do not even want to speculate. I guess the short answer to this question is that while you can wonder how much it costs to rent out the park for a day, I do not think you can actually do it! But then again, what do I know?

dosent a basket company rent out cedarpoint every year?there is (or used to be )anther company that rents out the point every year as well.

How can that basket company afford to rent out CP every year? I did not know the basket business was doing so well. It is sort of after Easter when they do rent it out, so maybe that has something to do with it.

The Longaberger Basket Co. has bought out the park for several years in a row, and I think this year is doing the same (thus a Sunday opening day).

In order to do this, the park undoubtedly requires that you use a certain number of tickets. I was there for last year's, and if I had to guess, they had 20,000 or more people there.

I'm sure the amount depends on who you are, and what you want. For example:
Longerberger Baskets has rented out the park for the past few years. They pretty much buy out all of the Cedar Point owned hotel rooms, as well as the entire park. They buy out the hotel rooms for two nights, and that is tons of income accomodations alone. So, If you have X number of people (I'm guessing around 20k, probably wrong), who will probably buy souvenirs and snacks, the profit margin is large already with the accomodations and souvenirs. I'm sure that the cost to rent out the park is high, but lower than you might think. Feel free to correct me if I am wrong, everything is purely hypothetical.
I guess I was closer than I thought to the # of people.
Longaberger is not just "that basket company" either. Their products sell in huge quantity and for premium prices. We're talking $100+ for many of them. Their corporate headquarters is built to look just like a wicker basket, seven stories high, complete with huge handles which are specially heated to prevent snow buildup. They also have a PGA rated golf course and a historic village attraction which just opened near Columbus. Longaberger is very big business! You can see a picture at this URL:

If it looks like a basket and smells like a basket...

Actually, my understanding is that while Longaberger baskets are outrageously priced by the company, the REAL value comes on the secondary market. Kind of like coins and baseball cards, I guess...

I know other companies buy out the park too, the one coming to mind is either Honda or Saturn. Anyone remember? But I know they do. Does CP have any restrictions on when a buy out can happen? It seems as if they only happen in May or September, the less busy times for the park, so I wonder if it would be more expensive to try to do it in July or August. Just a thought!

It was Honda in 1999, late in the year.

How many people here spent $100 for a basket? If there is somthing it it maybe.

And I assume 20,000 people don't work for the company.

You assume wrong.. They have several thousand people there. Plus once you factor in friends, family you see the numbers start to add up.

They don't restrict it to family like alot of companies do when it comes to company functions.

Going for 300 in 2001 (plus thinking about a 500 challange someone made me at the end of last year for Gemini)
Well the GROUP rate for over 10,000 is $19.95 per ticket. I bet you have to guarantee a certain minimum for a "park buyout".
What about if the company is willing to buy that minimum, regardless of the actual number of people that will be there? After all, then the tickets are paid for, so CP doesn't lose anything in admission price. Granted, they will make less in concessions and all, but could it happen?

What to stop them from reselling the tickets to the GP under the table for like $25 bucks a pop. It dose not even have to be under the table, If they actually "buy" the park, they can sell all the tickets they want.

As long as you're not selling tickets for the going market rate, you can sell them.

Scalping laws in Ohio kinda tough, got a friend who just got nailed..

I have always wondered if there is some kind of a scalping zone around CP. For any professional Sporting event in Cleveland, I believe you cannot sell tickets in a certain radius of the venue. Get this, at one time you could only scalp a ticket for face value, literally. If you tried to sell a $40 ticket for $38, you are going to jail.

I have never seen ticket scalping at Cedar Point, and I wonder why it is not more common. I hardly ever see security, outside the front gate except for the parking staff. If you buy a ticket from AAA, for lets say $25, you could sell it for $35 to a person who wants to save $4. Also you could scalp Pepsi cans for like $2. Although hardly anyone actually pas the full price, I bet there are a few people wanting to save a buck.

I would never do it though, If I am out there scalping tickets I am wasting time I could spend in the park.

Well why don't you guys just mosey on over to Indiana? It's perfectly legal to scalp tickets. :)
