Corkscrew back seat... AMAZING.

I never used to like Corkscrew because it was always too rough for me. A few months ago I decided to ride it and take the back seat because no one else was back there. I have to say, this completely changes the ride experience. The feeling created when you get whipped over the top is something you will never expect from this small coaster. I've been on other rides in the back seat, but they don't compare to the punch that this one gives (I haven't experienced Millennium Force back seat yet...) Another advantage of the back seat is that it is much smoother. It's just my opinion, but I rode the back and front proceding each other, and the back gives a much smoother ride.

Ride the front if you want the view and the excellent airtime over the bunny hop. Ride the back if you want a smoother ride and one of the coolest drops in the park. By the way, the back also gives excellent airtime over that first bunny hop, but the airtime doesn't really start until you head down the hill, because it whips you over that as well.

Chris, everything I say is a lie. Except that. And that. And that and that and that and that and that. And that.

Ah, yet another believer :). It's true guys! I too hated the ride, and when I got assigned there...quite frankly, I balled. It's the one coaster that, up until this year, I refused to ride in the park.

I'm partial now, of course, but it really isn't rough at all in the back...and that bunny hop is pretty fun; I know it had me calling shotgun on the testrides practically every day I worked open this season :).

It's hard to find an experience that takes you by surprise more than that first drop. You think going in to it that "it's just Corkscrew." But, HOLY CRAP! That first time in the back is actually a smooth, and quite frankly, fun ride.

Partial? Hell yeah!

Corkscrew is not a bad ride at all. I've ridden it more this season than I have in the past 5 combined. My only gripe is the lovely, excessively banked curve going into the screws.

Oh, BTW, Screwcrew... any idea why there's a huge straightaway after the loop? Possibly for brakes that weren't deemed necessary?

I think of it as a "break." In 1976 going through two consecutive corkscrews was pretty impressive. It seems to just draw tension before the "coup de gras" of the ride.

Then again it could have just been for no reason.

It could also have been just to aid in the arrangement of the screws. There wasn't really enough room to put another bunny hop in there to stretch the ride out a little more so they added a straight section, possibly.

I usually rode the ride durring dinner at the park while my Dad was sitting up in the stands watching Dragster and eating dinner. Some times I was the Only one on the train! I usually sat in back or front.
