Corkscrew and Iron Dragon trains

I was just at Cedar Point on Monday June 27th, and noticed Corkscrew and Iron Dragon still have yet to get their third trains. Anyone know whether these are just extremely behind in rehab for this year or if Cedar Point has abandoned 3 train op on these like Gemini and Mantis?

I don't know about Iron Dragon, but Corkscrew has supposedly abandoned 3 train operation. The third train was not really needed though because there was always stacking. If the restraints open/closed automatically and there were retractable seat belts, it would probably be more acceptable to run three trains. As for Iron Dragon, the ride really needs three trains. Something is telling me that there is just extensive rehab on the train. Has anyone noticed how uncomfortable the trains are on Iron Dragon this year? I always remember there being padding on the seats.

Yeah, Corkscrew was pretty much done after they added seatbelts. There is no chance that it can run 3 without stacking.

If i remember correctly, Iron Dragon has never had padding on the seats.

Wait...they added seatbelts to Corkscrew?! WHY!? It already has an OTSR.

^ It is possible for an adult to maneuver themselves out of a closed Arrow looper harness. Whether this warrants seat belts or not is debatable. Obviously we know Cedar Fair's opinion.

^ But if a person really wanted to get out couldn't they just undo the seat belt?

^ Exactly. Maybe next year they'll decide they need Woodstock Express style seat belts. Wouldn't that be fun.

Corkscrew will not be getting the white train back. It was completely impossible to hit interval with three trains and you would constantly stack in the brake run. With two trains we can still hit interval quite effectively and actually move more riders in less time than failing with three train interval. For Iron dragon, I'm not sure...The only thing I can say is they may have the same interval issue as they have a super short interval between dispatches...But I won't say anything because I just don't know

9 hour ride to RIDE!!

I was there 2 weeks ago on Sunday the 19th, and all three trains on corckscrew were running that day. But later in the week on Thursday when I rode it, I did notice the white train missing. But I am positive that they were running all three on Father's Day. And I just asked my wife and we don't remember wearing seatbelts on it, just the OTSR.

^ Perhaps you were having an extremely vivid day dream, but the White train has been in the Mean Streak infield all season, and the ride has had seat belts for a few seasons now.

That train has not budged from its spot all season. Trust me, I'm in the Mean Streak area almost every night.

I've yet to ride Iron Dragon yet this season because with only 2 trains running, any wait that's past the stairs is simply too long for that ride.

I've ridden it a few times this year and never had to wait on the stairs. I walked right into the station every time.

I'm with Ralph on this one... Used to ride Iron Dragon every trip previously, and haven't ridden it once this season due to having only 2 trains. Line has been into the queues most every time I've walked past it. This is disappointing not only from an operations standpoint, but also from the fact that this is many kids first big coaster (since it has a height requirement of 46"), and we all know how kids are with waiting in a line. Seems to me it would have been a good idea to keep 3, even if it did mean having to run over to restart the lift when the ride setup.

Has Iron Dagon got it's third train back? I didn't ride it yesterday, so I couldn't check...but I didn't see the cars in the Mean Streak infield, either.

They have not done anything to Iron Dragon to slow down loading yet.

As of last Wednesday it appeared to still be operating two with the third one nowhere to be seen. I'm not aware of them adding seat belts or bins or anything, but like I said, I haven't been on it this year.

As of ten days ago, they hadn't added seat belts to ID.

Last year there were holes in the center of some restraints. Maybe holes were put in all restraints since Corkscrew & Iron Dragon use the same type of harness.

Iron Dragon somehow escaped getting seatbelts, while Flight Deck at KI was not so lucky. ID used to move 3 trains really well, aside from the occasional crash landing of someone climbing into or out of the tubs.
