I recntly got contacts to replace my glasses, and only God knows how much of a hassle it is to constantly take off your glasses and shove them in your packet to ride a rollercoaster. I was wondering if it is "safe" to ride a rollercoaster with contacts (I assume it is). If anyone "has experience" in this, I would appreciate it. I don't want to be riding MF and wonder why I can see out of one eye and not the other =).

You should be fine. I've been wearing contacts for the past 4 years, and have been making at least 15-20 trips all of those years... I am yet to have a contact related problem, even on Magnum.
Of course I haven't experienced a 92mph coaster yet either, so I'll be crossing my fingers with you. ;)
The only problem I have is my eyes will get dry after a few coasters. Bring some drops.

My fiancee says she hasn't had any problem. While her eyes are all dried out at the end of the ride, the wind also makes her eyes water to the point she has tears. Weird, huh?

I wear contacts and have for about ten years. I haven't had any problems either. Incidently, I have also spent a day at Cedar Point (before contacts) without my glasses. I had to squit a little, but it wasn't too bad.
I agree.
I always forget that I am even wearing contacts.

I got rid of my glasses, and now were contacts, and after riding raptor 23 times in one night, my eyes were still fine and plenty wet, not a bit of dryness. You will be fine. (Is this a stupid topic)

Welcome back Millennium Force riders...We all want to know how was your RIDE!!!!!

I've worn contacts for about 6 years now and have ridden just about every ride numerous times each year. I have never had any problems with extremely dry eyes, contacts moving out of place, etc. The only thing to really be careful of is the water rides since the water can of course splash in your eyes and could be a problem.
I'm reading this thread with some amusement. I don't bother to take my glasses off when I ride coasters, so I fail to see what a "hassle" it is :)
i had to stop wearing contacts and went back to glasses. i got one of those sport bands that hold them on while you ride..sure, i look like a geek, but it says "Cedar Point" on it and at least i can see what's going on. no problems riding when i DID wear contacts, though.

Maybe I'm part vampire or something. I dunno. I have extremely dark tint on my truck and I can't stand to be outside without sunglasses on. I've always worn sunglasses on coasters and never had a problem. Why should normal eyeglasses be any different?
I know they make you take off your glasses on Power Tower, unless you have a strap. I asked the ride op why, because I have worn them on all the coasters. She said because of the height. So MF may have the same rule.
I didn't mean getting dry eyes while wearing contacts is a big problem or anything. It's not. Its just some peoples eyes do get a "little" dry wearing contacts. Some don't. If your new to wearing them it wouldn't hurt to have some drops on hand.

Wear contacts (hard ones at that) and have never had a problem with the possibility of losing them-I have had to take "time outs" when riding Raptor to run some water over them because they got real dry---
and on Coastermania night at around midnight after riding ALL day and heading for ride 11 or so on Magnum my eyes were KILLING me-another trip to the ladies room to rinse them off-
another couple runs on Magnum
(even got a couple Muffleheads in my eyes too that night!)
all was well
(I think this year I will bring my glasses to change into for Coastermania)

Welcome back Raptor riders-how was your flight??
I never had contact problems with any of the coasters at Cedar Point. The Steel Phantom was the only coaster that ever gave me problems, and it wasn't that bad. It was probobly because I was sitting in the front seat. Millennium Force should be an interesting test though.:)
You'll be fine with the contacts - I've been OK for 15yrs. Bring drops, however...
Side story - I DID lose a retainer when I was 11 on the Beast at PKI. Opened the ole mouth to scream and ZSHOOP!! Gone - :)
My wife lost a contact on Fire Dragon at IOA just a couple of weeks ago. We had ridden 4 times in a row (the park was dead) and her eyes were watering heavily. The thing kinda slid out onto her cheek. She grabbed it before it blew off and put it back in at the baby swap at the station without solution, that is, she rubbed spit on it. I'd sugggest bringing some drops and an extra pair of contacts if you have them.
I wear glasses on the coasters. Not because of my vision, but because it keeps the wind out of my eyes so I can keep them wide open. It's hard not to squint with a 72 mph headwind blowing in your eyes! And this year 92 mph!?
I have contacts and never have any trouble. As for sungalsses, for me it depends on the wind factor. On windy days, I do not wear sunglasses on MAGNUM, MANTIS or MEAN STREAK. At the tops of the hills I like to look around and if a strong wind hits you from the right angle, well, you know, the shades are history. But on calm days there is no problem.
I should have mentioned this before, but I even wear my contacts to Soak City and on the waterslides with no problems. Just close our eyes before the splash down.
