Got a great idea here thanks to Hooper-
since CPs opening is less than 3 weeks away (sooner for some too!) why dont we all let each other know about the construction going on around/near CP that could effect our trip plans??
Columbus is a MESS
now parts of 70E are closed-there are certain areas you cant even get on or off-it clears up by 71-but have no clue whats going on on 71-except for around 605-mess again-more construction areas.
23N was a mess last year-no idea if they got all their stuff done yet. (do they EVER get it all done?)
I am more concerned with my MAIN routes there
23N/98N and 2--
anyone know anything goin on???
I would appreciate any warnings!

I would say that everybody should totally avoid route 6 from Bowling Green to CP. They should never ever take these routes, particularly on days I am goi.....or um, I mean, on days I'll let you all know about!

Well, thanks for the info on Route 250! I'm staying right on 250 and the turnpike for the May 7th shindig. Would it be faster to take 4 to CP? I'm just glad the I-75 project is done around Toledo.

Ok for those traveling US250 North through norwalk here is the shortcut.
You will see detour signs right before you enter norwalk. they say to get on US20 & 18. Skip it and follow 250 into norwalk. The section closed is only league street. When you get to downtown Norwalk (at the courthouse). You will see the intersection of US250 and SR61. It is main street take a right on main street. If you go straight you will run into the detour very quick. Follow it around 4-5 lights down and look for milan avenue. Turn left there. at that intersection on your left will be st. paul high school. (that was my school). around a half mile down if that you will come to a light and meet with 250 again. go straight at the light and you are back on 250 & on your way to CP. :)

Welcome back Millennium Force riders...We all want to know how was your RIDE!!!!!
Route 2 East bound, from Toledo, is under construction from around the Davis Besse nuclear power plant. They are doing some bridge work, that is suppose to be done in the middle of May, I believe. Won't be much of a problem except the first few days of the CP season(unless, as usual in NW Ohio, they are behind)

Here in Detroit its a mess too, the other day I went to my friends house who lives 60 miles away.. it look me about 2 hrs to get there the construction is so bad I had to take 3 detoures to get there! I almost got lost.... but my guesses (en ni mi ni mi ni mo) worked!!! hehe welp I can't wait 3 weeks!@#!
I have a question sort of regarding this. How's the perpetually drunk Ohio Turnpike doing? It's the way I get there from Pittsburgh usually and I can't go down it myself cause well Boston is kinda far away (and in case any of you are wondering, the Big Dig is coming along terribly and at snails pace and should be done within the next trillion years).
So if any of you know how the construction that's always there on the turnpike is doing I'd be very appreciative.

I was born and raised in Sandusky, and we make the run from Sunbury to Sandusky every other weekend in the summer, so I can work at the Sandusky Drive-In on Rt 6 east of the main entrance. Here's some suggestions:
Take US 23 to State Route 4 instead of using SR98.
You can do 65 all the way to SR 4, and then run 4 straight north to Sandusky. SR 98 often has the State Troopers running radar. They park at the church with the big pine trees a lot.
Once you get to Sandusky, skip SR 2 altogether. Take Bogart Road, which is the last light on SR 4 before SR 2. Take Bogart east to Columbus Avenue, which is the next light, run Columbus north into town, and hop in to the traffic flow from 5th street, which turns into River Ave at the light where the Fire Station is. The light breaks traffic, and you jump right in. The best part is avoiding US 250 completely.

A fellow coasternut who lives in Toledo told me this weekend that the Ohio Turnpike between Toledo and Sandusky is going to be ripped up again. They're going to be resurfacing the outside lanes at the same locations where they recently added a third lane on the inside. As long as they maintain two lanes of traffic this shouldn't be too bad.
As an alternative headache, Rt. 2 between Toledo and Sandusky is also ripped up due to bridge construction near the nuclear plant. The detour is not ready for heavy traffic so I would avoid that route completely.
As for Detroit to Toledo, I-275 and I-75 look good. I-280 in Toledo might be under construction again.

Ohio's Department of Transportation has a good site for checking road conditions when you are traveling. It might be helpful to some of you.

Ok disregard my shortcut in the above listed post. Instead follow US250 N into Norwalk and follow the detour signs posted. They even have Cedarpoint detour signs along with the 250 signs for all of you. That will be the easiest way to do it. Skip the detour that takes you around town for it is long. Of course I will go a different way then that as I do know another quicker shortcut. If i gave that one out then I would be stuck in the CP traffic.

Yeah, in southeastern Michigan it is TERRIBLE. Construction everywhere. It took somebody I know half an hour to get to work half a mile away. :(

Hey guys--
Also there is a link for the Ohio turnpike
www.ohioturnpike.org--it shows the map of the turnpike and where the construction will be and there is a link for the PA turnpike www.paturnpike.com--I've always found them very useful when heading toward toledo from VA.

Are we there yet??
I know Scott mentioned the possibility of construction on I-280, but does anyone know for sure? I've taken 280 to rt 2 on almost every trip for the past 2 years, and construction on 280 has caused some nasty backups.

Tons of construction around Ann Arbor, and Detroit planed this summer. An alternate route for those driving from the Mid-Michigan area would be to head South on US 127 to US 223, and follow that through Adrian to US 23, just North of the Ohio border. This route works--but it seems like it takes forever, actually takes the same time as driving 96 to 23 South. But there is a work zone on 127 too... UGGHH!! Just can't get around the orange signs!
Michigan's DOT site is http://www.mdot.state.mi.us
