Construction for Labor day Weekend

I believe I read in a thread some where stating that the construction crew building "Maverick" are Union workers. If this is so, I as a Union worker believe that there will be no construction this weekend. As generally this a long weekend for most unionized workers. So therefore I believe there will not be to any more hints on what this ride will be untill Tuesday when I believe construction will continue and then when the announcement is made on Thursday. Unless do to some peoples belief that more track and supports are delivered.

Union workers don't work on Labor Day? They do if they need to! Police, fire, railroad, airlines, nurses will all be going strong on Monday.

Not to mention the registers at Meijer will be open so that you can reload the cooler and bbq.

The Cedar Point webcam of P2007 that is under the section of webcams that is on the front page of their website. That webcam.;)

I did not say all union workers now did I? I think I said most. I have been watching CP's web cam and there is no movement that I have seen except the wind moving the trees and the clouds

But your assumption was that, since this was a long weekend, the construction workers wouldn't be working.

You don't know what union they are in (as it is probably several, and before you say it, I don't know either). You also don't know what the contract says. They may have Monday off, but are probably working today and/or tomorrow like normal.

If I was anyone of these guys, I know I would much rather work through a holiday in September and minimize the number of days I have to work during a northern Ohio winter.

Especially if you're getting holiday pay. ;)

I was assuming nothing, its was a guess since i have seen no movement this late in the morning from either web cam. And since I am a union worker I dont think CP wants to pay the contractors triple pay (based on my union contract) for the hours worked on a holiday since it seems minimal work is being done these last few days. I honestly think, now that I think about it. This may just be a game they are playing. You know, no more hints till the announcement then contruction will increase rapidly. This is just my thoughts and not fact... so bash away. God so many ideas going threw my head make it stop

Am I right in saying that no construction happens on ANY weekend? If I remember correctly, on weekends in the past there wasnt any movement on the webcams.

Yea I think you're right. They haven't worked any weekends in the past.I think if they do work any weekends it would be because they're behind schedule or something.I wish they did so we could see more track going up.LOL

My point was that if it's necessary, they'll work. Like John said, each situation is different. There will be plenty of union maintenance guys working at the park on Monday. And unless something has changed since I was a union worker at Cedar Point, it'll be straight pay. I'm not saying that's the case with the construction guys, but you can't assume either way.

Just like every other Saturday this season. Since they haven't worked weekends all summer, it isn't exactly earth-shattering news that they might not work on Monday.

This may just be a game they are playing. You know, no more hints till the announcement then contruction will increase rapidly.

The construction schedule is not dictated by the marketing of the project.

Weren't they working last Saturday out of the site of the webcam?

Saturday August 26th
http://www.pointbuzz.com/gallery.aspx?i=5250
This van's doors are wide open unloading something on the construction site so someone was working on site Saturday.

Don't they usually put the crane arm down when they go home for the day ? http://www.pointbuzz.com/gallery.aspx?i=5248

It appears there was some work possibly being done we just didn't notice it.
Maybe, Maybe not now that I look a little closer.

In the first picture, the van could easily be making a delivery, unloading something he forgot was still in the van when he left Friday, or picking up a tool that was needed at another site.

And, no, the crane arm doesn't need to be down. Typically, operators will just make sure its safely out of reach, and in areas with higher crime rates, cranes are often used to hold large expensive equipment up in the air where they're unreachable.

Yes, there could be some work going on there, but if there is, its certainly minimal.

There's a little activity on the weekends, but nothing as active as during the week.

I am a Unionized Worker at Meijer, and I will be working all 3 days this weekend. Oh joy! Wow, that was odd. Right as I was writing this a Meijer comercial came on, odd!

there's activity today.

my question is: do the webcams stay on all winter or will they shut them down when the park closes for the year?
