Compared to Saturday the 11th

Was anyone at the park on Fri., Oct. 17, or still yet today Sat., Oct 18th... does the crowd seem to be to the extreme today as it was last weekend? Or was last weekend just a fluke weekend? I know...I know...this topic will probably be closed, but I just HAD to ask!!! Sorry!

When you made this thread, the park hadnt even opened yet. I doubt people are going to come back to tell you in time to go. You'll just have to take a risk. Im leavin to go up now regardless of the crowd I can still have fun. See everybody up there!

Wow...that sounded offensive! This was supposed to be a "light," "take-it-or-leave-it" topic. Sorry if I bothered you. However; I am laughing out loud at the fact that I wrote it before the park even opened ... you know, there just might be someone there who would rush back home JUST to get on GTTP to tell fellow GTTP'rs how the crowds are looking!!! (joking if you don't get sarcasm)

Another however; I DID call the park, and they said to "Dress in layers" it's only going to be in the mid to upper 50's, and it will drop to 48 tonight. The VERY nice secretary responded appropriately when I asked if the Saturday crowds are shaping up to be like last Saturday, and she replied "Gosh, I HOPE NOT!" Hehehe...she must have been VERY busy that day.

::smile:: It's a good thing I'm in a good mood! I am very happy today...regardless of the crowd (and comment)...I can still have fun too!!!

I'm slapping my hand to my forhead and saying ... Ok...., we can close this terrible topic I started before it gets much worse!

-walking away...shaking head down...MAN...what did I DO?!?!?- Sheesh.....

"The Day Is Mine!"

I just got back from the weekend at the park. Friday was pretty slow, but yesterday,WOW. It was one way again in the fright zone, werewolf canyon had full cues and the line went over the bridge near the cadillac cars.

The parking lot was full and the overflow looked to have about 100 spots remaining at 4pm.

It was slammed yesterday.

MFJedi, the worst part about the fright zone and everything was there were way too many people right there and nobody was there to tell them what was going on so everyone just pushed and shoved there way around. I watched three people fall on that bridge last night waiting for werewolf canyon.

Strange you mention that Gerg,I saw people falling all over the park last night. A girl walked straight into a garbage can in broad daylight and crashed, people running from the monsters were tripping in the dark.

The wait for werewolf canyon was insane. It was not worth waiting 2 hours for 100 feet of fog with three guys with wolf masks on. We got in on Friday in about 20 min but 2 hours was crazy.

They did have the giant skull at the end of the zone telling people it was one way only, and 2 security guards were there, but the cops did what CP police usually do-nothing, to keep people from entering the one way exit and causing a traffic jam on the trail.

Friday night had fewer cars in the parking lot than the week before, but they had a nice little crowd overall. Wasn't too cold to the point of being uncomfortable either. We had a nice time.

What time does the water show start?

We stayed at Sandcastle this weekend. As Jeff said, there was a nice little crowd Friday night (the 17th).

Saturday the 18th was fairly crowded. We of course were frustrated when we re-entered the park at 10:00 PM at the Soak City gate and walked via Frontiertown only to find that the Fright Zone was marked one-way again. Ok if they want to do it--but they should post signs at the major junctions (e.g. Magnum/Witch's Wheel) or park entrances alerting folks to that fact. So we walked all the way back down the Gemini & Power Tower midways, around to the Iron Dragon, and entered the Zone at Tenderfoot Pass.

Ok--I can deal with that. But it was MOST frustrating when we exited the Fright Zone at the skull to find that it was no longer one way (within 20-30 minutes of our first, failed attempt). In answer to the post question about being crowded, it did seem crowded Saturday, but not enough such that the Fright Zone should have been made one way.

I know it's crowd related, but if they could find reliable way of advance notification, it would have helped. (Like the electronic wait time signs folks on this board have wanted.) It was bad because I was with some elderly folks and I myself have a broken foot.

Kudos to the Fright Zone cast, though, for a great time both nights.

You are exactly right. I wasnt told two hours- I was at the popcorn stand next to the wave swinger at 8:10 and the park op said it would be 4-4 1/2 hours at that point!

You also make an excellent point. I saw countless people that would walk all the way up there and come back being really mad because they couldnt go through. And after they figured out where they had to get to, guess where they all went? The train. I thought people falling all over the place on the midway was bad- people were literally fighting for spots on the train. I had to wait 4 trains to get on one. What made it worse was the very friendly college kids thought it was funny to all get on the train to go to the back of the park, and not get off just so less people could get on the train. ARRRG! it was a very frustrating time. And then as you said, Western Cruiser, after i finally get to the fright zone, they open the other end. I did enjoy sitting by the characature stand by the millennium tunnel and watching the screamsters get people all night long.
