Coleen was the Director of Park Operations at Geauga Lake when Cedar Fair took over in 2004. Prior to that she was with Six Flags Worlds of Adventure as the Operations Manager. She will now lead Cedar Point.
Certainly a full-circle moment for fans of the Aurora park. Having worked there in 04-05 I can say this is a great choice! Wonder if her plan is to close Cedar Point like she did with Geauga 😉
I’m excited for her contrary to my previous remarks regarding my experiences of her. All I can hope is to see great improvements with the park. I haven’t been there this season yet, but one thing I noticed last year is the decline in cleanliness in many areas. If cleanliness and operations are a focus, that’s all I care about. I just don’t see operations returning to the way they were prior to 2017 any time soon.
IROC is the way of the Six Flags....and that's not a park decision from what I've seen, that's from corporate.
I'm looking forward to her leadership in the park. Opening weekend, my friend was wearing a Six Flags World of Adventure pull over....a ride host on Iron Dragon noticed and said that he missed the park, but at least we have Colleen. I've heard similar things throughout the past couple of years. That says something to me.
IROC or not, operations need an improvement. While IROC is a joke, 2016 crews were able to still keep lines moving when IROC was in full swing. Current leadership needs to highlight the importance of capacity and efficiency at a high attendance park like CP. They could also benefit training employees the importance of properly loading the platform when working crowd control positions (the position at the station entrance/turnstile).
Only time will tell what a fresh new GM will bring to the table. Change is not always a bad thing, so we shall see.
Colleen and Bill Spehn both did so much good on both sides of Geauga Lake, they would have been unstoppable with a budget and attendance growth on the ride side.
Unfortunately I'm sure she will be very limited on what she can do at CP because of the current corporate structure. But she is very deserving and I've only heard good things from those I know that have worked for her and with her in both Aurora and Sandusky.
I wonder if the title of "Park Manager" implies less oversight/decision making vs. "General Manager".
Good to see Jason McClure still around on the corporate level.
Enjoy the rest of your day at America's Rockin' Roller Coast! Ride On!
This news also comes from CPFoodBlog.....while generally accurate, the title given feels more like a reporting decision vs. reality.

Maybe the Six Flags side used the Park Manager title, while Cedar Fair was General Manager?

Six Flags used "Park President" for their equivalent position from what I remember. They are eliminating General Managers and Park Presidents in favor of a regional boss who will oversee multiple parks. Colleen might be the top person on site, but she probably doesn't have the authority or the salary/bonuses of previous CP GMs.
On a side note, just saw that the PR person (Chad Showalter) at Kings Island got canned today. I am not sure whether he already had a "regional" title before this or not.

According to his Twitter/X bio he used for the park, he was regional. I believe he had the same title as Tony, regional PR for Six Flags.
I'm hearing a *lot* of fulltime staff across all parks and several lines of business were let go in mass layoff today at Six Flags.
It seems that's the case. The former boss made some comments on LinkedIn.
