I was checking the events calendar on the ACE website and noticed that they have listed the two events taking place on June 15 and 16 in 2007, instead of the somewhat traditional first Friday and Saturday of June. I'll bet this will raise the attendance of the events since most schools will be finished at that time.
Both Coastermania and CoasterEXt are park sponsored events and I never intended to say that the dates were written in stone. I was merely curious as to the reason for the change from the "traditional" dates.
The only other time that I remember the date being changed was a few years ago when a scheduled coaster conference was also taking place during the same month.
As an ACE member I was told by the North East Ohio Rep that the reason for the date change is to boost attendance. but it's not because of kids being out of school as much as the days they chose are the 2 days leading up to Coaster Con XXX. Con's host park next year is King's Island. They're thought is that people who will be making the trip for Con will come early and go to Coaster Mania and Coaster EXT.
