Coastermania Weekend Question

I'm getting ready to head out to CP for the weekend, staying at Camper Village. I just found out it's coastermania weekend. We are platinum pass holders. The coastermania page says we get in free, but then it also says below that you must be a member of one of several coaster clubs to participate.

So, do I need to join one of these clubs and pay $$ or am I good to go just by virtue of having a platinum pass?

Can I expect this to be a crowded weekend or does CM not really affect crowd levels?

You need to be a registered club member in order to participate in the CM festivities - your Platinum Pass will not suffice. Of course, it's too late to register for this year's CM, but there's always next year.

I just confirmed the same with customer service at CP.

It's not too late for me to go to Kings Island instead... do you think the crowd levels will merit going there instead of CP, since I'm not eligible to participate in any of the CM benefits?

I'm of no help regarding crowd levels, having never been to CM. Perhaps others can chime in on that.

Though, if you already have reservations at CP, can you cancel this late without penalty?

The crowds probably won't be too bad since most coaster enthusiasts will be heading down to Holiday World for their Holiwood Nights event. Remember, you still get your early entry with your PP.

Tambo, were you referring to the Cedar Point crowds this weekend, or Kings Island?

Is CoasterMania on a Saturday like a Halloweekends Saturday (slammed)? Or just "normal" busy (1 to 1 1/2 hr waits for MF and Mav).

You don't have to be a member of a club. Each club member can bring one non-member as a guest. If you really wanted to participate, you could try and meet up with someone here. I already have a guest. So, I can't help you. But, many people who go, do not have a guest. People will be showing up all day long today. So, it could be hard to "just show up." However, you could just show up tomorrow morning and I'm sure you could hook up with a member then. Worst case, you go back to your site for some more sleep. :)

In my opinion, the crowd level would not really be affected by the event attendees. However, lots of kids are out of school as of today. We usually see some good crowds this weekend. Weather is the biggest factor.
