coastermania reports?

Did not get to go CP today as my child woke up sick on Thursday. Please give me some reports. Was TTD working at 0630 or all day, how were the guest talks, was the park full etc. ? Thanks .

TTD was down all of the day (well at least until 7 when I left). But they did give us MF ERT in place of TTD ERT, plus a front-of-the-line pass for any ride and a free way pass for TTD that is good anythime the ride is open. The only other thing that wasn't planned for was that at lunch, they gave us candy apples and taffy along witht he planned meal. This was my first CoasterMania and I must say that I had a blast with my crew from over at RideWorld, and I'm certian that next year I will be attending my second CoasterMania.

At least they gave you stuff to make up for Dragster being down. Was anyone really mad that Dragster wasnt running? People came from all over so I just want to know!

Race to the Sky(420 feet) for your thrill of a lifetime! Then plunge down 400 feet for the heck of it!

Just got back from the days festivities. Wow, what a day. Posting live right now from lighthouse point cottage #47. TTD was busted all day and from what I heard will continue to be busted until sunday when some part arrives from overseas. Im way too tired to elaborate on anything. Lots of rides, the conference was cool and informative. To make up for TTD being down they left gemini and of all rides, disaster transport open. How that balances out im not sure but whatever, ill take my free TTD front of the line pass.

Im a lurker....

I was somewhat disappointed that they went ahead and kept MF down at night instead of giving us ERT at night as well. To me that didn't make sense. Also, Magnum had its trims on during ERT. Overall not the best CoasterMania to date, IMO.

...and the most anticipated event of summer 2003 is...

The Matrix: Reloaded!

The Gemini was running in outstanding order during the ERT. Without the trims it was still flying through the helix with a mostly empty train.

Magnum was running as well as it has in recent years (which is to say excellently). Even with the trims it was hauling.

I didn't get the freebe's since i rolled in after noon. I thought that the night was going to be a waste after the slight rain at the end of the regular operating hours and when the Gemini opened with one train on one track. But in the end things shaped up with great rides.

I too heard an op mention that TTD would be down until a part cleared customs. I guess we'll see how true it is soon enough.

I was planning on going this year but canceled last minute due to having to work late on Thursday. I had mixed emotions about going anyway since I was disappointed last year feeling that there were too many people in attendance for the event. Reading that TTD was down the whole day and that there was ERT on Gemini and Disaster Transport instead of MF on the night ERT, I am even more glad that I did not go. To make up for TTD being down, the park should have had back-to-back ERT both sessions on MF, no exceptions. If that would have been too long of a day for the MF crew, then park management should have been out there operating it.

2003 counts:
Millennium Force Laps: 3
Magnum Laps: 3
Raptor Laps: 2
Trips to CP: 4

DT? Heh, wasn't Raptor in any of the sessions?

KPTM
Raptor, Power Tower, and MF were all in the morning.

People who were there for Dragster in the morning (and even the people who got there at 6:30am didn't get it) got 2 passes to the front of the line (one non dragster, one freeway for dragster) to make up for no Dragster.

Dragster: 1 Force: 2 Twister: 3 Raptor: 3 Magnum: 4

It was a little odd having Disaster Transport e.r.t. when you have two other "world class" coasters such as the Mean Streak and the Mantis that did not have any e.r.t. assigned to them for the day. Personally, I think they should have given us Millennium Force for the evening e.r.t. as well, despite the fact that we had it in the morning. The e.r.t. on DT was unique in that all the lights were "on". If you rode it that way, you saw the ride in a way that you never would have seen before.
I did not feel that Coastermania was bad, but it left a bad taste in some people's mouth. I did not arrive at the park until 1, so they did not give me any free passes. The lunch was alright. However, when night fell, everything became very confusing. I heard something that Gemini was open when riding Magnum, but never saw it run. People came back to Magnum saying that Millennium Force was not running. Word hit that Disastor Transport was running (with its lights on). Nobody was really informed what was going on. We were never sure what time everything was open until. And the fact that Dragster was down all day left some very, very frustrated. I had a lot of fun, especially on Magnum, but everyone would have had a blast and been raving about the event if Dragster would have been open.

"Word hit that Disastor Transport was running "

I think that was the problem. There never really was any announcement as to what the night ERT would be. We grabbed a bite at Johnny Rockets as the park was closing with plans to head out to Wicked Twister when we saw that DT was open. Did a quick check to make sure that Wicked Twister was running? It was. Bonus! Then went back to catch Magnum and MF ERT but it was obvious that Milly was down and while I saw a quiet train run on Gemini, after not seeing another one go by for some time I figured it was just a fluke late-night test run and left it at that.

Beyond that, it was a great event. Save for Dragster everything was better than advertised. Not just the caramel apples and salt water taffy but the 6:30 ERT on Millennium Force started a few minutes early -- as did the 7:30 ERT on Raptor, Power Tower and even Blue Streak (even though it was said that it wouldn't start until 8am).

MY GOD... Diaster Transport??? Kinda makes me happy I left before the night ERT. I was happy with the time I was there though. Riding MF, Raptor x2 and Magnum x2 all before 8 AM is really cool. The lunch wasn't that bad ( only spent 8 dollars for the whole day!) and the free tickets were a nice treat. I thought the conference was ok, nothing really special as most of the people just *****ed about things they didn't like or ragging on the park... I mean come on! this is your chance to talk to the big guy's and ask them anything you want to know that no one else in the park could answer for you and you get questions like "Uh, what color is the Magnum?" Overall though, I would have to say it was another fun trip and look forward to going back again.
This was my first Coastermania, so I don't really have a reference point, but here's my 2c.

It was really strange that they closed MF for the night ERT. I was in the MF line at the end of the regular sessions, and rode at about 10:05pm, headed back to the entrance to be told it was no go. I was pretty frustrated at that, BUT - I did get 14 rides on WT in the ERT!

I thought the park did a pretty good job under the circumstances - it must have really sucked for them going into Friday knowing that they didn't even have the replacement part.

For me personally it was no big deal that TTD was down - I live 1 1/2 hours from the park, I've already got 4 rides (2 in the front seat), and I'll ride it at least 10x more this summer. I did speak to people who had come a long way (like Texas & Florida) who were understandably extremely disappointed that TTD was down.

I got 8 MF, 11 Raptor, and 14 WT rides on the day plus 5 "others", which is pretty awesome in my book.

I was at Coastermania this weekend and I too was dissappointed that TTD was not operational. But I am thinking about making another trip there this Tuesday to try and ride it. All we have to do now is pray to the rollercoaster gods and hope that helps our TTD. :)

What a drag.......................ster.

Cp did there best to make up for ttd being down. They dident have to add any other rides to the ert, but they did. If they dident add anymore rides to the ert, than people would ***** about it even more than they are now. Its not like they wanted ttd to be down, but it was.......deal with it.

Belive me, I am bummed about it being down.........but life goes on.
