CoasterMania questions

So I have never been to CoasterMania but I have heard that it is a very cool thing to experience if you are a coaster lover.

I was just wondering what exactly is coastermania? Like what do you do while there?

Also, how do you sign up and are there any requirements to sign up? Does it cost money to sign up?

Friday, June 3 & Saturday, June 4, 2011

If it’s the first weekend in June, it can only mean one thing – it’s time for Cedar Point’s 23rd Annual CoasterMania! This year’s event will be held on Friday, June 3 and Saturday, June 4, 2011 and promises to be the biggest event we’ve ever held!

CoasterMania! 2011 would best be titled as, “You Asked For It, You Got It!” We’ve not only added more rides and roller coasters to the lineup, but the ERT sessions are longer!!!

We’ve added rides such as Mean Streak (celebrating its 20th anniversary in 2011), Corkscrew (celebrating its 35th anniversary in 2011) and the new Windseeker. Plus, the ERT hours are plentiful. Can you handle riding Magnum, Top Thrill Dragster and other scream machines until 1 a.m.?!?!? We hope so! How about getting up a short four hours later to ride thrillers like Maverick, Millennium Force and others for more than three hours! Yes, you read that correctly. Three hours of ERT on Maverick and Millennium Force on Saturday morning!!!

And the fun doesn’t stop there.

Back by popular demand will be the ultra-popular CoasterMania! Film Festival. You could win prizes ranging from exclusive ERT to winter tours and more!

As always there will be free food, prizes, special presentations, exclusive deals for guests staying at any Cedar Point Resort and much, much more.

The action kicks off on Friday, June 3, with a special presentation from our keynote speaker, Cedar Fair Entertainment Company Chairman of the Board, President and CEO Richard Kinzel! Bring your cameras and questions because this is one presentation you will not want to miss!

Tickets for this event can be bought by clicking on the “Purchase Tickets” link on the right side of this page. Online ticket purchasers will be asked to show the coaster enthusiast club membership card when checking in at the event. As always, Cedar Point Season Passholders and Cedar Fair Platinum Passholders get in FREE with their pass and a coaster enthusiast club membership card. 4:30 A Registration begins at the Main Entrance
Ticket booths 12 and 13 will be reserved for CoasterMania registration
5:00 A Admission Gates Open
Both Front Gate and Resort Gate will open early
5:30 - 8:30 A ERT on Millennium Force, Maverick, Mantis (15th Anniversary), Corkscrew (35th Anniversary)
2:30 P Complimentary Lunch in the Point Pavilion
10:15 P-12:00 A ERT on Raptor, Blue Streak, Disaster Transport, Wicked Twister, maXair
11:00 P-12:00 A ERT on Windseeker

As for requirements, you need to be a member of a coaster enthusiast club, such as CoasterBuzz.com. That membership costs $25, and if you sign up now, you'll have access to BooBuzz this year, as well as CoasterMania next year.

Typically, there is a nominal charge for these events, even if you're a pass holder.
