Coastermania Q&A?

For those of you who attended Coastermania's Q&A about Dragster, what were some of the questions asked?

------------------
"I can see Canadaaaaaaaaahhhh!" - Me atop of Magnum.

Lets see... I asked about them waiting for announcing until January and if they were going to do it again.

They said they liked how it went and would very much like to hold off announcing as long as possible.

There was one quesiton that asked where the 6th train was earlier this season. Their response: It hadn't arrived yet.

BS. There are photos of the 6th train on the track from back in March, with all 5 cars on it.

That question and answer makes me wish I went to the 12:00 session instead of the 10:30. How could they have explained why my desktop background on March 27, 2003 was this picture...

Here are some I can remember, but I'll probably think of more later:

The queue wall: This is a new ride and needed a place to hide their stuff. Also, he said, when the capacity gets up, you will not be in that area for very long. Hee hee, clever.

Brakes during power failure: They are rare earth magnets and copper alloy fins, so the brakes themselves don't need power. The device that deploys the fins is spring deployed and air assisted, so it doesn't take power to deploy.

Mean Streak: Monty says that the ride was originaly operated under one configuration for a few seasons. It quikly became appearent the maintnance costs would be 'astronomical'. That is when they added the things some people don't like, i.e. brakes. He gets tugged both ways on it, some people asking why they don't run it like they used and others say that is the roughest ride they have ever been on. He says they spend UPWARDS OF $250,000 per year maintaining it. He says the woodies in the park are always the most difficult and expenisve to maintain. They water the wood of Mean Streak all night to lengthen the life of the wood. "One version of a compromise is one that nobody likes".

One person asked if Magnum was red or orange when it opened and I believe it was bill who replied with a sarcastic 'orange'.

Thats all I have time for now, I'll add more later.

Since I had to leave after morning ERT, I have 2 questions.

1.) (I think I know the answer to this already). I take it Sandor Kernacs was not there???

2.) Will Dave (Rideman) have the entire Q&A on his website??

------------------
"This second hill is my favorite part of the ride. It is so Cool!"
"And that's the way the cookie crumbles"

1. Sandor was not there. The Q&A was two sessions with Monty, Bill, and Rob from Cedar Point's vice-Presidential level.

2. It depends on how good the audio is on the videotape I shot. :)

Someone asked if 12E (on DT) was Dick Kinzel's shoe size. So stupid....

They also said they have to water Mean Streak with sprinklers. They even have a joke that Montey should mow the coaster.
