coastermania entrance

I'm attending coastermania 2003, and staying in Hotel Breakers. I was wondering if you had to register/enter at the front gate, or if you could use one closer to the hotel? Also, since we're going to stay there Thursday night, is there anyway to register then?

Thanks

caverger, I'm in your boat too. And, no, I was told that only the main entrance will be used to register CoasterMania guests (the marina, beach and Magnum entrances won't open until a half-hour before the park's official open for resort guests). You can just hop on the courtesy shuttle to drive you from Hotel Breakers to the front of the park.

I'd love to pre-register too on Thursday night but it makes sense to be fair and just have everyone do it on Friday. They better be ready, though. I just noticed that Breakers Express is sold out and a ton of folks are posting that this will be their first CoasterMania. Even with the new rules of just one guest per coaster club membership I'm thinking it will be more than 4000 folks there -- and some very crowded ERTs unless they open up more rides.

Thanks Paris. I went to Coastermania in 2000 for MF and at the time that was the largest crowd they ever had for the event.. Now with TTD I'm sure it will be even larger. I guess even though it will be 5:00 AM they will have the shuttle going. Since its a CP event (at least I hope).

My feelings on Coastermania have always been that since it is called Coastermania and CP is the "Roller Coaster Capital" of the world that they should have all the coasters open for ERT. With the crowds they get for this event it only makes sense. I say "Give the geeks what they want!"

this is a pretty stupid question, but do you have to be involved in some coaster group to go to CoasterMania? or can you just flash your Season Pass and go right in?

Caverger, I was told that the shuttle runs around the clock -- though obviously in the wee hours you need to request the shuttle. You can probably call the front desk -- or just show up in the lobby (or head out to the driveway where the shuttle picks up) and request it. Odds are you won't be alone.

As for more coasters being open, well, CP is putting out an amazing spread of coasters as it is. If you want ALL the coasters, you have the 10-10 operating day to hit the ones that aren't on ERT.

The only problem I see is that if we're talking 4000-5000 people the morning ERT at Dragster is going to take hours, and even if they will cut the line off at 8am, the hotel guests and Joe Cool members coming in at 9:30am are going to be in for a rude awakening.

If I were CP I'd be ready for the possibly record-breaking crowd by keeping crew on standby to:

a) open up Magnum and Gemini at 6am to go along with the Dragster ERT.

b) Get ready to cope with the crowd for the late lunch by having discount vouchers (or free meal vouchers) to offer guests to use at other park eateries.

Because thousands will be in line for Dragster even when the 7:30am ERT starts on the three other morning ERTs, those lines will be reasonable -- and with folks dragging their feet late into the night the three coasters with the late night ERT should be okay -- definitely long lines, but doable.

In recent years, Coastermania ERTs have been more like ELT - Extended Line Time, especially in 2000 with MF. I would expect the same this year for TTD. Paris has it right, don't ride TTD in the morning ERT.

2002 wasn't so bad (even with Wicked Twister down), I managed to hit MF 5 times at night with about a 30 minute wait each.

The morning ERT wasnt bad either.

But this year I think most people will be in line for Dragster even when the park opens (so the other rides will still be empty).

I thought the Mean Streak ERT with no lights was pretty cool. I was also actually a real Exclusive ride time. They ever gave us re-rides! I think that they should have it open again this year...and ever expand the coasters they run for CMania.
