I just got an email from the club I joined this year just for the bonus coaster club stuff from Cedar Point (Coastermania, media day etc.). It says "Including Club CoasterFusion, every other small organization aside from Club TPR, American Coaster Enthusiasts and CoasterBuzz have been removed from the list of included clubs." Anybody heard anything about this?
Being involved is not the same as being committed. It's like bacon and eggs; the chicken is involved, but the pig is committed.
Per Coaster Crew's Facebook page, Cedar Point has indeed removed most of the "officially-recognized coaster clubs" for 2015. Does anyone know why this was, if it perhaps pertains to certain incidents that may have occurred at enthusiast events this year? The only clubs recognized for park events will be:

I found out that DAFE was no longer recognized about a month ago. So I'll have to join another.
My guess is that the events are getting too popular and costing the park too much money. I think I read on here back in September that Halloweekends Preview saw a significant increase in attendance. That's my theory anyway.
I'd guess it has to do with streamlining the process on their side. Perhaps ACE, TPR, GOCC and Coasterbuzz have historically provided the largest number of registrants domestically, so they focused on those four?
If a popular event were costing the company money, I'd think they'd adjust the offerings and/or registration cost rather than limit the number of eligible clubs.
The HalloWeekends event last year was announced pretty last minute with a short registration window. It was also the first year so many didn't know what to expect. This year, we knew a little earlier (and knew it might happen). It was also the second year after a successful first year. I'm not so sure this event alone growing was seen as a bad thing.
They've also added events as enthusiast events have grown more popular. CoasterMania! food and giveaways alone were insanely fancy and generous. This also doesn't indicate that they'd want to cut back. They would presumably cut back on event count and / or giveaways if cost was a concern.
Logically, then, I presume that they prefer to work with a few major clubs (including some foreigners) for simplicity of administration. Whether or not this pertains to issues of rule enforcement is unknown to me. The list never used to be quite so long as the fifteen clubs recognized for 2014. 15 clubs to keep track of and work with is a lot.
Perhaps those clubs that have been removed were the less disiarable ones that the park had the most drama/issues with at events. Seemed as though last year the numbers of those thinking they were entitled to way more that possible or offered was higher than years past. If I were the park i'd be making the cuts too for those "clubs". The ones remaining are the ones that seem to keep their members in check per say.

This is how rumors get started. Uninformed, speculative comments.
Personally, I'm glad the list of clubs is whittled down, and not just because mine (GOCC) is still on there. These events have grown to a point of unsustainability, in my opinion. The Halloweekends kickoff event in particular was nuts. Too many people.
Didn't the park cap that event?
Some of you obviously don't remember or were too young to see how big Coastermania was back in the day.

The only event with a cap that I recall was Coaster Campout. And the cap was for the campers. They didn't cap how many could participate in the ERT.

Yep, Coaster Campout had a cap on the number of campsites available. Even if you didn't "win the lottery", or didn't want to camp, you were still able to attend ERT so long as you pre-registered. This year, it sounds like there will be a nominal cost, though, similar to Winter Chill Out.
Yes, that was the impression I also got from what Tony said last Saturday at the Great Ohio Coaster Club Holiday Party.
Also, CoasterMania! will require preregistration this year. The cut off date hasn't been finalized yet, but will likely be on or around the 1st of June.
