Coastermania crowds?

I know none of us have a crystal ball (the past year and a half has proven that to be true) but can anyone give me a sense of how crowded the park usually gets on Coastermania Friday? I was scheduled to chaperone our senior class trip to the park on Tuesday, June 2. That's obviously not happening that date now, and looking at our other senior events Friday the 4th is probably our next best date to take the kids. I want to give the kids a sense of what to expect and some advice on how to plan their day if possible.

AndyG, I can’t speak for the crowds, as I have never been on coaster mania Friday. However as a former Ride Operator; if your group gets there right at opening, I would advise to start in the very back of the park, and work towards the front of the park. Normally at 10:00, everyone runs to the rides in the front of the park, if they’re not already going somewhere else first. Not sure if you’re group is staying for the full day, but if so, the lines for the bigger and some of the smaller rides will close early. Why is that, other than Covid and staffing, all of us are still trying to wrap our heads around it. There are a few rides that will open at 11 and the water rides inside cedar point will open at noon. Hope this helps. If you need anymore info, I’d be happy to help as best I can. If you don’t mind me asking, which school are you guys from? Just curious.

Coastermania does very little to add to the overall crowd at the park. In the early days of coastermania, you were allowed to get in 3 extra people on your coaster club card, now it's only preregistered coaster club members only allowed. Many years ago they announced at the lunch they had 2200 participants. Now they have a limit as in 'coastermania tickets sold out'.

I would say this upcoming coastermania Friday would be normally as it would be for that Friday and considering the large crowds so far this season, expect a crowd during the normal operating hours.

Thanks! I will pass that along to the seniors. I'll be with the group from Cranberry High School - it's about a 4 hour drive for us, so our bus pulls out at 6AM and we're planning to stay until park close. Hopefully it'll be a good day for the kids. I'm glad we are getting to do it this year... a CP trip is one of our annual senior week activities, and up until fairly recently we weren't sure if we'd be able to pull of taking the grads this year or not.

Hi, thanks for the information I could find here, we want to go there in a week, you were very helpful!)

We, Coastermaniacs, will, when morning ERTs' are done and the public crowd starts to come in, will go to ride the rides that were not part of the mornings' ERTs'. You'll see us with our Coastermania neck lanyards (and some wearing the 'freebie' Coastermania t-shirt). We will be a very small percentage of the crowd. I talk to many of the general public crowd about rollercoaster clubs and Coastermania, surprising how many people didn't/don't know about the clubs and Coastermania.

It isn’t surprising. Most CP patrons do not approach a visit to the park with the same mentality (or enthusiasm) as an enthusiast.

Raises hand. Neither my boys nor I have any interest in marathoning coasters, I did when I was teen but not after. We find we need at least a 15-20 minute break afterwards otherwise my head just starts feeling heavy and I just want lay down.

Enjoy your Super Power. :)

I didn't marathon a particular coaster for 2019 Coastermania morning ERT. Did Gatekeeper, skipped Raptor (the double helix at the end does my stomach in), walked to Valravn and did that, walked to MF and did that (once, although could've done it a few times), walked to the back of the park and when Mav opened did that with its' short line as public just coming in. Then just enjoyed the park and taking pictures up until the 'lunch'.

I save my 'marathoning' for late in the day for on MF and TTD. Too difficult to marathon SV and Mav as that part of the park is always crowded because of SV with a spillover of people waiting for Mav.

My brother and I joke about this. When we were younger, we'd practically run from coaster to coaster. Now we'll ride a coaster.... Then maybe see what's playing at the Red Garter. 😅

Question (maybe stupid):

If I've registered for CoasterMania, do I still need to make a park reservation or is that included?

Thanks.

If you're a passholder, YES. I had to make a reservation with my platinum pass number.

Thanks. I did receive an email from the park that stated if you are a resort guest (we are) you do not need to make a park reservation.
