CoasterMania Change

Hey Everyone!
Just thought that everyone might like to know that CoasterMania will NOT be the first Friday in June this coming season. Due to the ACE CoasterCon at the park and the RCCGB coming, the park is going to have CoasterMania on one of the weekends in September. Specific dates to be announced in the future.

and where, pray tell, did you get this information? do you have a source or anything to back that up with? I'm kinda doubtful because Coastermania has always been held in June..

Sorry neo, I forgot!

This came from Bryan Edwards at the Great Ohio Coaster Club Holiday Party last night. Dorney Park will be borrowing the first friday in June this year for their event, but CoasterMania will be back in June for the 2005 season.

Good, I didn't want to have to choose between two great events at the same park...

JayDubs is right. Makes sense to have it towards the end of the summer.

alright, thanks. I wasn't trying to be mean or anything, just wanted to make sure you had a source to back it up...hopefully we won't have to listen to Mr. Innes tell us about curveballs again...;)

It makes more sense. The other great thing about it being in the late summer is we won't have to deal with the end of school trips. I usually avoid the park as best I can in June for that reason alone. It will be nice to have it in late summer.

Two (probably stupid) questions: #1 Do you have to be an ACE member to do the CoasterCon thing? and #2 What's RCCGB?

Joey, according to www.ACEonline.org: "ACE encourages non-members to attend our events as a way to 'check out' our club before deciding whether to join. However, non-members may only register to attend ACE events as a guest of a member who is also registered to attend the event" In other words, if you want to attend next year's CoasterCon at Cedar Point, either join ACE or hook up with someone who is already an ACE member and plans to attend. I would encourage you to check out their website if you are interested in joining. I've been a member for several years and consider it money well spent. Now for your second question: This is just a stab in the dark, but I'm guessing that RCCGB stands for the Roller Coaster Club of Great Britain. P.S. There are no stupid questions--just stupid answers!
RCCGB is the Roller Coaster Club of Great Britain. Those guys are a great group. Back in '99 I had the opportunity to join them during their Magnum ERT session at night. By far that was one of the best riding sessions I have ever had on Magnum. We were laughing and chanting the entire night. There were less then 90 of them and they were running all three trains on magnum. As soon as we came into the station everyone jumped up and got into a different row. It was a great night until my brother crashed my car on the way home. ;)

Interesting note about the RCCGB this past season. Cedar Point was not on thier list of parks for thier 2003 "tour" but a good handfull of them bypassed the "scheduled" park to attend CP that day.

Great group of guys and I can't wait to see some of them again next season. You're right Dan.. They have an air about them while riding that makes it alot of fun.

While the schedule and pricing hasn't been posted yet, I believe traditionally non-ACE members can attend CoasterCon for a higher registration cost.

--Greg, who's still undecided about going to CoasterCon 2004, but will probably at least be doing the Con "bookends" of TimbersFest and BeastBuzz...
