Seems they really want to profit off those that 'don't know better'. Why pay $90+ for 2 hours of uncertainty with weather ahead of time when can grab fastlanes to ride for a little more / access to more rides?
Also taking the best parts / just ert? I enjoyed the Behind the Scenes tours, QnA session, etc.
It seems like the entitled coaster mania enthusiast crowd has whined and complained themselves out of relevance with Six Flags. Apologies to the decent folks that liked this event but like most other things a few bad apples ruin it for everyone. But in this case, at least in my experience it was way more than a few. Especially last year with TT2 whine fest…
@JUnderhill
Made it so now the only people whining will be those not able to get tickets since these are apparently even more limited. Going to bet if the first group enjoyed the first one, they'll just buy the next ones as well. Be the same people over and over (essentially how Mania tickets were but still had 'hour+' to buy a ticket then)
edit: didn't see that this is on sale already. Guess we'll see how long it lasts. so far, lot of 'hate' on comments I've seen, so not sure whos jumping on it
I've attended several Coastermania events over the years. Heck, I remember when it was a 2-day event. I am remembering that correctly, right? I enjoyed the cruise on Lake Erie and the afternoon buffet. I have many fond memories of night-time ERT on Top Thrill Dragster, sometimes until 1:00 a.m. When it was running, that is! All good things must come to an end. Goodbye Coastemania.
JUnderhill:
This is not an event designed for the same group that Coastermania was
This is an understatement. I wouldn't even call this a replacement, because this has no connection to CM whatsoever. Odd, because they state on the website that "We’ve taken the best parts of Coastermania and created this all-new...."
The best parts?
The best parts to many were the cruise, the Q & A, the behind-the-scenes; not riding Iron Dragon at 8:00 in the morning.
The name is goofy, but it's just a different thing altogether.
Saying this is a replacement for CM is like saying Shoot the Rapids was a replacement for White Water Landing.

Promoter of fog.
Coastermania was a two day event in 2009, and that was one of two times I went. The two day event was great. If I remember correctly it was night ERT on the Friday and morning ERT on the Saturday. I also believe there was a mini golf tournament in Challenge Park as well as the luncheon and Q&A session. A group of four of us went and had a room in the Bon Air section of Breakers. I went again in 2022 with a buddy and we had fun with on the cruise but the ERT was not exclusive at all. This new event isn't appealing to me at all. I can't say for sure I would have attended Coastermania again, but if things lined up I would have certainly considered it. But $95 for a few rides in the morning and a tshirt doesn't really come close to being worth it. Night time ERT is where it's at.
We'll miss you MrScott and Pete
I went to 2 Coastermania events. First was 2-day event which was a ton of fun. Never went to Q&A session or on anything other than ERT (and behind scenes tour of whatever coaster was featured that year mainly because there was no ERT at that point in the day). Different people were looking for different things with CM (and other events).
Will be interesting to see how the number of tickets compares to those sold for the charity ride events.
Statement on site about Coastermania, to me, was more about making it clear there won't be a CM event this year than referencing it being a replacement.
Sounds like they’re scrapping morning rush and going back to Coastermania. Wow. What a cluster.
Glad people stuck to it and gave feedback. Shocked there wasn't enough buyers for Morning Rush to just ignore the feedback for the year, no one really bought tickets.
edit for reply above: Mania sells out every year, so there was no need to change for 'more interest'. Think they just read into feedback from some Mania people and assumed everyone felt the same way. (the disgruntled ones)
This company can't get out of its own way. 150 years of goodwill built up at Cedar Point goes a long way to keeping financial momentum going at the park for a few years, but these idiots are going to do their best, between stuff like this and cutting more staffing on rides, to piss all of it away in short order.

The last Coastermania I attended (I think maybe 2013 when Gatekeeper was new) I remember some guy, red in the face, just absolutely going off on Tony at the luncheon because they ran out of free shirts in his size. That semi-permanently soured me on the whole enthusiast thing.
