Just a little over three months away from Coastermania. I bet that's hard to believe if you're buried in snow. ;) In any case, it's important to note this year that registration has to be done ahead of time. There is no walk-up registration. You can do it here:
https://www.cedarpoint.com/plan-a-visit/coastermania
Also, I'll make this plea again... if you intend to go as a CoasterBuzz Club member, please don't wait until the last minute to join. Every year I inevitably get email the day before the event asking if I can hand-deliver a membership card to someone, followed by another pissed off message that I can't. I know most people aren't that guy, but please, don't wait. Your membership card has to come from Florida, and the US Postal Service isn't always the most reliable thing.

I would like to add that whether you plan on attending Coastermania or not, being a CoasterBuzz member is always a good idea.
I guess I could look into joining this, even if I decide I can't make Coastermania. I've never been a member of a Coaster Club before!
Is there a deadline to register? And is there a cap on how many can attend?

REGISTRATION
New in 2015, registration is required for this event. You will not receive a confirmation after filling out the form below. Registration closes promptly at noon on Monday, June 1, 2015.
That seems to mean that there is no cap (just like in years with in-person registration) and you have until June 1st @ 12n to register.

Another thing to note would be that if you wait that long to join a club, you've already missed the registration deadline.
Unfortunately every club has to deal with those people. I certainly do. I try not to let them bother me. If they want to join one of the more expensive clubs (ACE), they can print out a temporary membership card online. As far as I know, they're the only ones who do that.

I'd like to do that, but several parks insist that they would not honor them.

Yeah I could see it being easy for someone to just "make" one to get into an event.

Actually, I prototyped a thing that would generate a QR code, and if you doubted its authenticity, using the code would take you to a page verifying the membership on coasterbuzz.com. That seems pretty legit to me.

Yeah, I was going to say, it would be rather easy to authenticate a membership card, in much the same way they authenticate print-at-home tickets.

Indeed. As it turns out, I have some experience with validating theme park entitlements electronically. ;)

I don't think counterfeit tickets are that big of an issue. You need to be a really good counterfeitter to do that and you'd have to be able to trick the verification system.

I don't think anyone is talking about counterfeiting tickets.

I was pretty sure that's what Rob meant when he said to "make" one, as in a counterfeit club card. I know it's not tickets, but I said the wrong word in my last post.

I don't know the answer to that last question, but I was going to ask if I register myself, could I register my friend later on? He's not sure if he can make it yet.

I asked Tony that a while back, and he said that it should be ok to wait, because you need to know the name of the guest that your bringing, and the event will not sell out.

Last year I attended Coastermania using my Coaster Fusion club card. I already renewed my card for this year and now I'm seeing that Coaster Fusion is not on the list of accepted clubs.
Do you guys think this will be a huge issue? Or is the list on Cedar Point's website just general, popular clubs and my Coaster Fusion card should be just fine like it was last year?
