Yeah, notice he edited his post, he originally didn't have the time in there.

Shoot the rapids, tame and dry. Thunder Canyon, wet and laughter. Snake River Falls, soaked and smiling. White Water Landing and the old shoot the rapids, Fun and missed.

This is a random thread for that random thought.

You'd do better over here.

I've enjoyed pretty much all of the podcasts except for the last. I found the interview for the filming company was too long and drawn out.

Other than that, amazing job! I can't wait to hear what Kinzel has to say to all of us crazy Cedar Point and coaster enthusiasts.

I'll be there!

Well... that bit of information just cemented my plans to be there this weekend...snow or shine!

This may be a really stupid question, but is this podcast something that can be publicly viewed at Red Garter? Just wondering because all you need is audio, and being that the CEO is there...they don't usually like to be out in public.

Which Dick Kinzel are you talking about? He regularly wanders the park greeting guests and interacting.

Besides, I don't think Jeff would have publicly advertised the recording of this podcast if we wouldn't be able to actually watch it. Unlikely the advertising of Chris Linn's record breaking card toss. It was a little disappointing to hear that the theater wasn't open for it.

MHW,

I believe it may be viewed there (in public) AND taken home on whatever medium, with permission. Is that right, Jeff?

I don't want to start rumors. When I wrote "they don't usually like to be out in public," that was no reference specifically to CF executives and/or directors. My reference was to top-ranking executives in general.

Except that you were applying that stereotype to Kinzel because thats who the discussion is about.

I love the fact that he wanders around the park. Although I've never seen him do this, I think it's great that the CEO of a multi-million amusement park chain walks around one of his parks like anyone else would. It's what makes Kinzel, Kinzel.

We'll miss you MrScott and Pete

My girlfriend and I were there today for the live podcast with Dick Kinzel and we really enjoyed it. He seems like a very, very nice, down to Earth person. We were very happy to meet him and get our picture taken with him. We also met a few very nice people from Lorain outside the Saloon when we were waiting to get in. It looked like it was a great turnout and I'm glad we got there early and got great front, right side of the stage seats. Perfect ending to 2005!!!

I was also there with a great up front table and a clear view of the stage. The Q&A with Mr. Kinzel was pretty cool. No real clues into next year, but I'm glad I got to attend anyway. I also briefly met the solonites around 10pm. As no one besides them were waiting to get in, i decided to hit some rides and get some more pictures of the various markings around the park. I made it back around 11:20 and a good thing too, the place really started to fill up and ended up being standing room only.

I was there too. Very enjoyable to sit back and listen to (minus a few sound system issues) Mr. Kinzel share some of this insight into the amusement industry and listen to of his past experiences that have shaped his decision making today. It is a tribute to his management philosophy that has kept Cedar Fair strong when other park chains have struggled in the last few years. Best answer he gave was when he was asked about what his thoughts were about about White Water Landing being removed......."That sure is a great peice of property." Only time will tell what is in store for that section of the park. I would guess we won't know until sometime late 2006, but you never know.

I also attended (the guy in the orange CP hoodie). I agree that his best answer was the one about the "beautiful piece of property" that WWL sits on. I also thought that the questions that were asked by the panel were very good questions and Mr. Kinzel gave informative answers. I loved the personal story about Magnum. I can just picture Ron Toomer at the helm and Mr. Kinzel in the front car. Very amusing. At any rate, it was a most informative session and very well done by Jeff and the rest of the panelists. Thanks for doing the podcasts Jeff, I listen every week!
