Coaster wars

I was just wondering what was Cedar Points response to the new coaster that will break MF next year. This coaster in Nagashime Spaland that will be 325FT. high. Have they said anything on it??? Also what does the public think of this??

Does anyone even in the neighborhood of the United States care about a coaster in Japan?

It's also worth noting that NO press materials issued by anyone have explicitly stated the height of the coaster. Morgan only says it will be the tallest that MORGAN has built. If Morgan and Spaland will not say exactly how tall it is, there is much reason to be suspicious.

And like I said... until someone builds one larger in the US, it really doesn't matter anyway. I doubt that anyone here will skip Cedar Point in favor of crossing the Pacific.

Also When are they going to start construction on this new one? When should it be up.

I've heard the Nagashima coaster will be completed in August of 2000. It's wierd. WHY wouldn't they release the stats? A.) It's NOT taller than MF and they don't want to say "World's Second Tallest Coaster" or B.) It IS taller than MF and they are waiting to formally announce it (the park) when MF opens? I dunno, just guessing here, but it's so strange why they aren't announcing it.

It will open at the end of August. The exact date is not certain becouse They are actually ahead of schedule. All I can say is I get to ride two 300 foot coasters in 2000. WOHOO.

First off, yes, I care about Spalands new coaster. It is going to surpass MF by alot. MF can't take the record for "most over-banked turn at 122*" when Mr. Freeze (Six Flags St. Louis, ~Over Texas) has a 130* turn on it. So much for that. Not only will Spaland's be taller, but faster, and longer. I am not saying MF will not be a terriffic coaster, because it will. What CP should be doing, if they aren't, is do a video documentary and the how it was built, hand it out free to the first 300 riders, then have them on sale in the gift shops. That is a guarenteed money maker.

I'm not so sure that the Spaland coaster will surpass MF by alot. I like MF's layout better, the 80 degree drop, overbanked turns and tight transitions will make for a really dynamic ride. The Spaland coaster has a very conventional layout and will probably ride very similar to Steel Force. No, that's not bad by any means, but I think MF will be the better ride. Also, how much of the extra length at Spaland is taken up by the lift hill? Since the lift hill is convetional on the Spalnad coaster, a few hundred feet of the extra lenght may be in the lift, which doesn't matter to the rest of the ride. Given a choice between the two coasters, I would take MF or the Spaland coaster any day.

I would never trust a park named "Spaland"

It will not be as steap to my understanding.
