Coaster Maintenance Schedules

Is there any way to find out when different rides go down for their scheduled maintenance programs?

We are going to visit CP in late August and I'm dying to ride TTD for the first time. I would hate to get to the gate and find out that it is down that day.

On a side note, I just wanted to say that I really appreciate the info on this site. This is my first post and could use some help. Here is some history with me at CP: When I was growing up, our family frequented CP a few times in the mid 70's and early 80's but since being on my own I haven't been back since 1998.

My biggest thrill at CP ever was my brothers and my dad sneaking me on Gemini in 1979 when I was 7 years old. All I remember was lifting right out of the seat on the first drop and dad having to hold me in the car. It was awesome. This year my wife and I are bringing my in-laws who have never been there. I cant wait to ride MF and TTD. The 14 hour car ride will be soooooo worth it. I'd hate to miss out on those 2 rides because they were being worked on that day. Does anyone know how I could find out some more info on the matter? Thanks!!

Unless there is a breakdown, you don't have to worry. This is because CP is a seasonal park, therefore all that stuff is done in the off season.

Alright!! Thanks for clearing that up. I look forward to trying to ride them all like I did last time I was there.

All the daily maintance stuff is ither done late at night or first thing the next morning. Dragster's the only one you have to really worry about.

Not this year really. Seems as though MF is going for title of Most Downtime this year.

Dragster seems to have been pretty reliable so far. I would agree that MF has been down probably the most of any ride. Once I did visit and WT was closed for what the attendant said was "scheduled maintenance" but that was only for a few hours and hasn't happened since. You don't have to worry.

Thrills Around the Corner!

If TTD keeps it up, we might see it hit the 1 million mark.

I have noticed a LOT of downtime on rides this year.

what you've just said is one of the most insanely idiotic things I have ever heard.
Everyone in this room is now dumber for having listened to it.
I award you no points, and may God have mercy on your soul.

Thanks guys!! I know that rides can go down at anytime but knowing that there wont be any "scheduled" stuff makes be feel better. Looking forward to being there!!

Unlike Six Flags, Cedar Point makes every effort to make sure the rides are actually ready to go.

You guys might be interested in this. In June, my wife and I visited Great Adventure...our first Six Flags experience. We waited 20 minutes for Kingda Ka at around 2:00pm...and sure enough, when we got ready to go, it broke down. Being seasoned CP'ers, we didnt even miss a beat, and were ready to wait a bit while they fixed the problem.

Oh wait. This isnt Cedar Fair.

Instead, they immediately forced everyone out of line, and said "sorry, its closed for the day". On the way out, I mentioned that at Cedar Point they let us wait, and actually attempt to fix the ride, even if it is 10:45 pm (btw, it was a rollback that caused all this).

The park closed at 8:00pm, at which point we were in line for a final ride on El Toro. Sure enough, at 8:15 or so, there was Kingda Ka, being launched just fine, ready to go the next day.

That experience is just a microchasm of the problems we experience there, and I can personally say that we have never appreciated Cedar Fair (we also visited Dorney) more in our lives.
