Coaster Inspector - 3rd shift

I saw the YouTube video that told me Cedar Point has a third shift that comes in and inspect the coasters while we are sleeping. How old do you have to be to do that? Do you have to go to college or take any special coarses? I love being up high and I think this would be an awesome job for me! Just wondering! Thanks!

You have to be able to spell "course", at least.

Not sure how much inspection occurs over night. Most of it occurs after sun-up in the morning.

You know, when there's enough light to be able to effectively see what you're inspecting.

I'm not sure exactly how much inspection goes on at night, but I can say that a TON of maintenance goes on at night......When I worked there, pretty much as soon as all the guests cleared out of the park, the maintenance vehicles pulled in. Mean Streak and Wicked Twister are famous for nightly work. I often saw welders working on Wicked twister at night.

I'm too sexy for my harness!

Awesome! Must have been fun!

Welders on Wicked Twister? What were they welding?

Sounds like more than regular maintenance if they were doing it "often".

They added additional cross ties on the track going up the spikes shortly after it opened to make it stiffer. Then, in the first off season, they added additional supports for the spikes to make it stiffer still.

I'd rather be in my boat with a drink on the rocks,
than in the drink with a boat on the rocks.

Oh yeah, I remember laughing in line at how bad the sway could get.

Aside from riding coasters like crazy for CoasterMania, I love seeing all the stuff going in the super early morning hours. And then it all magically clears out by the time the park opens.
