"Coaster Craze" on Travel Channel

Just saw a commercial on the Travel Channel for three roller coaster shows they are showing this Sunday, June 30th. They are each one hour and start at 8:00 pm. Just thought some of you might want to know.

Yea i also saw that commercial. During th commercial shots of WT and MF were in it, im not sure if it was a top 10 like Discovery channel does or not

I don't think it was a top 10 type thing, although I'm not 100% sure. It still looks quiet interesting.

I'm going to make sure I watch. I hate missing rollercoaster/ Cedar Point shows.

Cedar Point, the cure for the Summertime blues!

The shows are mainly based about coasters in the west, so I don't think there will be awhole lot on Cedar Point. The three shows are Designs of Terror, Vegas Thrills, and Terrifying Thrills.

Anyone else see the portion of one of these Travel Channel shows where a seven year old girl was filmed bragging about wearing her hair up and wearing thicker soled shoes than normal to meet the height requirement for a coaster? Was anyone else appalled at this, or is it just me?

It's one thing to do that, but quite irresponsible in my opinion for the coaster show to actually 'showcase' that course of action. :-(

Oh well... I DO recall CP literature that strictly forbids this method of artificial height manipulation.

That is so stupid. Risking your life to enjoy a ride that you would eventually be safe to ride when you reached the proper height.

It is a very selfish thing to do. Let's play devil's advocate.

Say a a parent/family member/etc. has a kid wear high shoes, puts something in their shoes, does their hair high, etc... and the kid gets sprung from a ride and dies. The parent would be the first one to scream about it and sue the park. Even though their negligence was to blame.

Then you have a ride-op that is in college that let the kid through because he/she made the height requirement. All the attention goes to this young adult that tried to do their job well. The death would clearly weigh heavy on their conscience.

Now you have a kid with a bright/positive future wondering whether or not he will be charged with this kids death. Not to mention the personal/religious feelings someone may have.

People do not think about these things.

That's not the first time that segment has been on the air. An older show had it, and they just put it in the new show. But anyway, she was over 42 inches. She could have ridden tons of other rides that were within her height requirement. Did you hear what she said after she got off. "It was fun but it didn't go upside down."

Did anyone else notice how all the shows seemed the same. Same rides, same people saying the same thing, same camera shots, ect. They did 5 - 10 minute segments on goliath and X every show.

All three shows were produced by the same group, so it makes sense that they'll have the same announcer, opening, graphics, and footage library. The only difference is the segment order and basic topic for the show.

While I liked the idea about having a coaster show focused on a particular region or park, three in a row about California and Vegas seemed a bit much to me, especially since I was just out there a week ago.

However, since CP wasn't featured and this is a CP based board, this is venturing into the off-topic range.
